dunno if i've heard that track, but i would say if you want a nice stabby sub, layer the hard compressed attack of a nice kick with a looped pure sine wave.

Its also a really good idea to get your head around the ins and outs of synthesis. This means that you're not just relying on presets but you can either tweak existing sounds or build your own to fit your needs exactly. I just googled "subtractive synth guide" and got this:
http://www.kvraudio.com/wiki/?id=The+Ba ... +Synthesis
On the other hand you might already be a synth building guru in which case kudos

One might also consider the free vst synths out there. To name just a few, polyiblit, triangle 2, A-synth, crystal, zebra etc etc... (More at hitsquad.com) Just because they're free their power should not be scorned!
When you say stabby synth, I immediately think of hoover stabs... I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but if it is, you need a synth with Pulse Width Modulation capabilities (see google/wikipedia). A poor mans PWM is detuning one oscillator from the other by a few cents.
