2. Learn to play the piano properly and reading notes.
3. Learn how to use vvvv and Quartz Composer (but that has only to do with the visualisation of music).

You get tricks and tips by sitting next to an other producer. Not out of a book. They wont tell you everything. I can tell u that for sure

Tell me how you proceed. I do not think that I will ever dare to go that deep into DSP programming. You guys study computer science, I suppose?

i've No DSP knowledge prior to owning reaktor but i've owned reaktor for quite some time now and i'm getting to a stage whereby i am no longer making minor modifications to instruments to suit me at a primary structure level...a particular thing i want doing requires core level structure re-programming. (wow that sounds swish!)
the Core manual has information and tutorials however it's hard to apply what's in their into your own idea's, or atleast i find this. so alot of what i'm currently doing is barely scratching the surface of what i want to actually do, and i'm doing much of it by trial and error and asking fellow users for help when needed. i think once i've done what i need doing in core for a particular instrument (part of my live patch) i'll probably not go back to it unless i
really have to.

I just read that fiddling around with Core requires a lot of DSP programming knowledge. So basicly if you can programm Reaktor on Core level you can solder your own synth, too, I suppose. Or start to write it in C++.
If you have the time, I would really like to see a video or so, where you introduce your live ensemble (without getting to much into your secrets)

Long time Reason user, I finally kicked the habit. So I am learning Ableton, which is going rather smoothly but I also have to learn all these VST's that before I couldn't take full advantage of. I don't know what next, I have too much on the plate to think that far ahead.

yeah but sitting next to get tips (i.e. being taught), reading a book or just messing around to see what does what, its all still learning.
