Press for DubPressure

Remember DubPressure's Rusko/ Slaughtermob/ Life4land rinseout last year? Brighton's original dubstep night, DubPressure, (brought to Edinburgh by \LOWER/- myspace.com/lowerthanyouaveragelowness) returns on the 24th August (the Bank Holiday Sunday), and we're pulling out all the stops for this one. Combining forces with indomitable Glasgow outfit Electric Eliminators (myspace.com/theelectriceliminator- their Fortified Sessions have brought the likes of Skream, Sgt. Pokes, Benny Ill, Digital Mystikz, Pinch, Peverelist, Distance, Aplleblim, Geiom, Harmonic 313,Kode 9 and Spaceape,N-Type, Chef, Joe Nice and Hatcha up north, many for their Scottish debuts) means we're mixing it up more than usual, and thus interweaving the main room's bass- wrenching line up of dubstep, dancehall and grime with an eclectic mixdown of broken beat, electro, dub, wonky hip hop, garage, jungle and breakcore in the second room. The additional 5 am license- yes 5 AM LICENSE- has given us the opportunity to bring in a range of DJ's, both homegrown and far flung, to complete this unmissable festival line up.

The Bug (Ninja Tune, Rephlex, Tigerbeat6, Soul Jazz, Klein), is headlining the main room to celebrate the release of his new album London Zoo, which is set to be released on July 7th. If you haven't experienced the moshpit danceoff climax incited by monster track 'Poison Dart' featuring Warrior Queen- which has spun its way round every self respecting DJ's wheels of steel since its 12" release- you need to get out- and sweat- more. Alongside the Bug, we have Roll Deep's FlowDan, of grime collective Cemetary Warriors, who worked with The Bug on the prolific Jah War, and with fellow Roll Deep'r Killa P on bullying bassline track Skeng. We also have another special guest vocalist to be confirmed for the The Bug's set… check myspace.com/dubpressure4cabvol or myspace.com/lowerthanyouaveragelowness for updates..

ALSO IN THE MAIN ROOM:

DubPressure resident Unlikely //Clandestine Cultivations/ Rinse FM// (dubstep/ dancehall/ grime set) This co founder of DubPressure and Clandestine Cultivations was responsible for bringing the sickest line ups to the shores of Brighton, back when dubstep was an edgy new sound with a tiny, loyal inner circle. DubPressure's subsequent success, army of followers and resolute commitment to unearthing new talent as well as guaranteeing regular appearances from the Behemoths of the scene, gained it a DJ magazine citation as being in 'the top five dubstep nights in the country'.

Sleepless Crew //Subplate Records, Dalriada Records// (dancehall/ dubstep set) Probably Glasgows busiest live act, they will be bringing their unique brand of acid dancehall to the 'burgh for only the second time. Expect extreme lairiness from these two.

myspace.com/sleeplesscrew

Gravious- //Hotflush/ Scuba// (dubstep/electronic set).Local lad Gravious makes subtle and beautiful electronica tinged dubstep. Drawing comparisons from Boards of Canada to FSOL, his is the perfect sound to close the main room.

myspace.com/gravious

JBostron- //Audio Bullet / HumFiDrum / One Drop / DubChamber// (dubstep set) Bass weight enthusiast Bostron produces dub- reggae influenced jungle compositions and mixes dubstep, jungle and d&b regularly in Ireland, Scotland and Europe. Blam.

IN THE SECOND ROOM:

Headliner Dogdaze //Tectonic/ Subsolo//- Hollands Dave Huisimans, better known as 2562/ A Made Up Sound will appear under his alias Dogdaze //Flyin' High Records// rinsing the best in broken beats, garage and hip hop, all tempered with his unmistakeable detriot techno edge. His debut album has just been released to universal acclaim, this is a rare chance to catch him play a much more eclectic set than he is renowned for.

myspace.com/dogdaze

Electric Eliminators //Fortified Sessions//Reload-Radio -The people behind Dubcamp, and arguably Glasgows heaviest crew will be drawing from over 20 years of record addiction to bring you the finest hip-hop, dub, electro, two-step and bass flavours, in a triple tag team stylee.

myspace.com/theelectriceliminator

DJ Phinga //2MS/ R.L.D/ DubPressure// (dubstep/ hip hop) This boy has the skills and a stack o' wax to be reckoned with. Expect nothing but bombs from one of Brighton's most up and coming DJs/ producers.

myspace.com/djfilthyfingertips

Nass TSC // Mutiny// (jungle/ breakcore) Nass TSC is the man behind the bi- monthly club night Mutiny, whose burgeoning success at Edinburgh's Bongo Club is largely down to its reputation for bringing the best in jungle, breakcore, d&b and hard tek to these parts. He'll be closing the second room in a flurry of new school junglism and bastardised breaks- the ultimate counterpart to Gravious' dubbed- out, ambient sound in the main room.

myspace.com/tuckshopcrew

Since the addition of the upstairs Speakeasy cocktail bar to the Cabaret Voltaire early this year, the venue boasts an increased capacity of 600, not to mention a list of flavoursome seasonal cocktails, table service. This in a setting separate from the sweat and toil of the main club downstairs, but with the main stage's live show generated through the bar's excellent soundsystem, and all the action is visible on T.V screens around the room.

And, last but far from least, there will be deals on select beers and mixers!!

Tickets will be £9 in advance, there will be 300 on sale soon

Tickets are still available for this, right up to close of business today at ticket scotland. We have had the capacity chopped as the speakeasy has a private function on, so I'd get tickets quick to be safe.
