Hi everyone. New here as I'm pretty much only just getting into the dubstep scene. I currently mix drum and bass and breakbeat in clubs and think that dubstep will be able to provide me with a really good addition to some of my sets. I have been trying to do a little research into various artists but am finding a lot of stuff a little hard to trawl through. I'm not sure whether or not they play the sort of dubstep that everyone here is into (sort of worried they might be the dubstep equivalent of clipz and hazard), but I'm really liking the sound coming from caspa and rusko's sets.

I'm really keen to find some tunes/producers/labels that replicate that sort of heavy grimey sound. Although the more chilled side of dubstep is nice to listen to, it's not really what I'm looking for for my sets. If anyone can help me with some info I'd really appreciate it.

lmao - yer kind of. but people like them - it's just people who rip them off who piss the majority off (and there's a lot of rip offs!)

well first off start with SKREAM - does a bit of everything really - but lots of catchy hyper stuff (his album and Skreamizm 4 espcially)- i especially like his dark stuff (check 28g/Fearless 12" he did with Loefah on tectonic). If you like him check out benga.

then Coki? good producer with amazing crowd reactions (you may like spongebob, tortured, Earth a Run Red) But i prefer his dubby stuff to be honest (officer/Mood dub)

Mala does kinda techno influenced stuff but is my favorite producer - works with coki as Digital Mystickz. check EVERYTHING on the DMZ and DEEP MEDI labels.

DZ does nice wobbly stuff, as does tes la rock.


Im quite feeling Synkro and Spherix at the moment check them out.

i think you'll find a lot of the stuff that isn't like caspa n rusko is actually a lot more "banging" than first seems (mala prime example of this)- although there is a lot of relaxed minimal stuff you won't like.

check out the kinda "future garage" sounds coming out like TRG, Martyn, Whistla - and then form back in the day on dakr garage tip - El-b, Horsepower, Artwork.
