Hello everyone,

i've only just stumbled upon this forum, i'm an old skool producer [well i'm fairly old]

i've been using a waldorf microwave for a few years and i've just about got my head round it.

BUT, i'm trying to create basslines/sounds like vex'd etc on it and getting
nowhere quickly.

anybody feel like giving me a few tips? i 'feel like' it's something to do with
assigning modulation sources [lfo?] to filter properties [cut off etc] but i just can't get it sounding right.

Anyway, i know from the old 'jungle' days that somethings are closely guarded 'secrets' within the scene, but if somebody would just give me some clues or point me in the right direction, i'd be ever so grateful

One that's being done to death is distorted sine wave, lfo set to pitch or filter frequency with a controller set to lfo frequency to change the speed of the wobble so you could try that

Thanks everyone for the tips, yes it is the WOBBLE, i've been struggling with
and your tips have been a good place to start.

Been messing about with Ableton 5 today and i have to say that the OPERATOR fm synth plugin can create some truly awesome bad-ass bass,
if you haven't tried it yet i can highly recommend it.

Also, for those who are 'masters of the wheels of steel' Ableton 5, is amazing for creating mixes without turntables. And you can throw all kinds of weird fx over the top, if i wasn't so quick at using cubase and just beginning producing
then i'd have to say that ableton is a very, very good production tool without a massively steep learning curve.

i would also add that albino 2 is massively fun for making basslines. lots of parameters to play with.

Been trying a few other synths but always got back to Operator. So powerful. So easy-to-use. So ...wobbly.
