easy people.
I love reggae and have always steadily compiled new material for my own listening pleasure, however I swear ive reached a dry patch as far as new artists is concerned. So much stuff coming out now is either aggy gay-killing dancehall or cringy RNB cheesy reggae.
Can anyone reccomend some good roots reggae away from the obvious people....
forums are always good for finding new shit so can anyone reccomend any good reggae forums?
peace

I don't know just how extensive your knowledge is so sorry if any of these artists you already know:
Ken Parker
Bob Andy
Delroy Wilson
Dennis Brown
Phylis Dillon
The Techniques
Wailing Souls
Trinity
Derrick Morgan
The Gladiators
They are all roots reggae. I know what you mean about the current state of new releases in reggae most of it is either too gangster for its own good or is too whiny. I find the best way to find good reggae is either buy old tunes or continue wading through all the rubbish in search of good new releases (they do still exist I promise)
Hope this helps

One tune which came out a year or two ago which I can't get enough of: "England Ah Mi Yard" by YT (on the Necessary Mayhem label). I just googled the guy and was stunned to see he's a white fella - wasn't expecting that. Anyway, the tune's streaming here:

In the end, though, for me nothing beats 1970s-era Culture.
