SideSteppa - Koto AUDIO INSIDE....

Hey guys,
This is the first tune i've posted up here. I've been producing for ages but took a step back with dubstep to try things out and get my sound together. This is definatly influenced more on the breakstep side of things but has the eastern sound of early dubstep and a drumfunk kind of vibe going on.
I reckon as long as it's 140(ish)bpm anything goes pretty much....right?

Any feedback is appreciated.
Cheers guys

Not dubstep as I'd see it, but I don't think that makes that much difference really. It's up to the dj how they can use it right? Great track though, intricate, manic and pretty disorientating (in a good way). I don't think I could use it but your style is pretty fucking cool regardless. Some serious Aphex Twin styles going on which can only be a good thing. Sounds like a crazy eastern orchestra covering his accapella Funnyman.

Cheers mate. I definatly am coming in from a more experimental side of things....I reckon there are elements from a few different genres but realise this isn't 'dubstep' per say!
Thanks for your comments, glad you like!

Cheers Marty! It's interesting to see if people perceive it as mixable with dubstep or not...the breaks are running at double time rather than half time so could mix well i reckon....All about diversity!
Big up yourself!

Like its sense of fuckedness, but seems a bit overbusy and doesn't exploit the hooks enough. Liking the slack rhythm but I think you should change the bass sound into something a little more punchy and maybe more subby, samples and odd noises work well though.

digging this mate will listen it louder tomorrow, reminds me filastine but different. I remix it in my mind with some smashed synthish hits on top of the break and more sub ..could make a hot bladerunner-esque thing .

Shonky - Cheers for your comments man. You're a name i really respect on here! This was definatly an exorcism of ideas for me so realise it is quite full...unfortunatly changing things individually isn't possible coz it was all done in cool edit pro so once something is down it is down...having said that i can do a full remix with lower sub etc...by taking the elements and using a sequencer (which i've just bought!). Thanks again for your comments and time.
Constructo - I like your ideas for a remix...as i just said to shonky i don't know how many elements could be taken individually as they are all kind of merged in cool edit...i have some samples and stuff in different places so PM me if you're interested in a reworking and i'll see what i can do.
Cheers to all for listening!!! Big up yourselves.

that's very impressive if you did that all in Cool Edit

ha ha...cheers. To be honest it's all i had. I did get a few sounds (koto, bass) from fiddling with Reaktor but couldn't use them as VSTs so just exported them as samples and worked them in. I've been using cool edit for ages with sort of noise/abstract guitar stuff so it was a natural progression but as i've discovered more about 'dance' music from doing this (and a couple of other) beats i realised a sequencer is the way to go for accuracy (and speed).

Hey constructo. Yep got your PM...have been out for most the day tho. It will take a bit of time to find the samples but i can probably only guarantee the bass sound as the breaks were chopped and blended within cool edit...i don't know if i have an early saved version or 16 bar loop of just the beat...i will have to search a bit. I must also have the vocal somewhere...it's a long time since i started the track!!!
Will PM you tomorrow with what i've found....
