Hello, I was just wondering how do I make sub-bass like Loefah's Skream I Remix and Truly Dread, the kind of sub bass that really rattles you, I am currently using Massive and Reaktor 5 for bass, so if someone could guide me through it I would be extremely greatful

I know that lol, I mean how can I get it like the bass in I loefah remix obviously not the exact same but that heavy BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM kinda sub-bass.
And I've read the production bibel helped on alot of things but not this I'm afraid, thanks.

i just posted this in a previous thread, anyway, If you're a registered Reaktor user you can download my 'dubstep' (and experimental) bass snapshots for the Reaktor Synth Carbon One here http://www.native-instruments.com:80/in ... tchid=7311

once loaded check how the sounds are set, tweak the LFO's and filters to suit.

bass sounds 10x louder on a pro audio system dont forget.

stick a sine wave and then a mid bass that fits on top of it and it will do the trick. tweak it till your happy!

if your using some normal studio monitors , you probably won't hear the full effect of the low end of your tunes, unless like mentioned above your in a club on a big system. i play some vinyl at home, on studio monitors with a bass responce that goes down to like 50-55hz, and i can barely hear or feel any sub, because the main bulk of the sub in these tunes goes a little lower them my monitors can handle.

but play with your eqing and layering mid range bass sounds too, just make sure it doesn't eat the rest of your mix for breakfast!

What I meant yeh:)

I rem not that long ago trying to make sub bass and couldnt hear it which confused me for a bit lol. So I was making bass without any sub lol.

Always a good idea to listen to the tune you like on your own monitors and then try match that sound, if you want.

Thanks for the feedback and help guys, I'm going to be greedy though and ask if there's anymore help I can get for this, still not on the right path.

some people have 3 parts to there basslines or even more.

have the sub / mid and top. sub has no fx but the mid and top parts will have fx/movment etc.

use an EQ to cut out parts of the bass so they fit together and dont hit each other.

Hmm, would it be possible to get this effect by tweaking a kick drum thats quite bassy and just cut everything out of the sample apart from the reverb?

Why would you want too?

You could make a bassline out of any sound if you really wanted too.

layer the basslines and EQ each one so they fit ontop is what most people do. No need to get all anal about it:)

thats up to you really. Depends what you are doing with the rest of the sounds and what you are after.

There is no 'best' with making music.

808 kick is a classic. Add a bit of tape distortion and you already got a nice b-line to start with

Normally when im making my basses I add a sub, which is working at the 2nd octave (usually a sine), then filter off everything above 100-150hz depending on what i need. Then mid bass is put on top with a second oscillator, which i first high pass at about 100-200HZ depending, but then is filtered again low pass at about 300-400HZ. Anything on top of that I usually do in a different synthesiser as i work in reason
