so far this year some of my favorite and most interesting releases have come from producers more well known in other genres for example --
geiom
timeblind
andy stott
just curious if people are feeling these somewhat 'alternate' takes on dubstep, i personally love it.would like to see some other artists try to stretch the boundaries some more.

agreed! digging all of these. they all seem to be from different perspectives which is refreshing. the timeblind and andy stott mix well with lots of different shit too. can't wait for the next geiom.

Don't know about the other two but the Geiom 12's really good. Think it's best if people don't try and establish a set sound early, leaves plenty of scope for innovation that conformity will kill.
Really liking Jah Rules by Rhythm and Sound, not quite dubstep (more dub) but definitely on the same vibes, nice and minimal. Now they'd make good dubstep I feel

Don't know about the other two but the Geiom 12's really good.
hunt down a copy of 'ghostification' by timeblind on soot records. shouldn't be difficult if you don't sleep on it.

check out a guy in new york called 'grapes', i cant remember his myspace address but he is in my top 8, he has a very interesting production style, really feelin 'who is, this is'.

Choke which was on the 10" modern love ting is too slow to mix with dubstep...really annoying! great track tho....really like stott's style. That Geiom is amazing too...haven't heard timeblind.

you should be able to get Timeblind's Ghostification off itunes etc as well, for the non-vinylists. You can hear two of the tunes on his myspace, along with like 8 others of his, it's a non-standard myspace player, just click next track to skip through

I think it's good to have so many influences as long as the core sound is maintained to a certain extent, if you know what I mean.
