I moved to London from Newcastle in 2000, sucked in by the romance of pirate radio and UK garage. I’ve been lucky enough to follow the mutations of the sound through, as well as other underground styles.

With this mix I’ve gone for an eclectic approach, mixing dubstep with garage, urban house and ‘ardcore:
old and new variations of the London underground sound I love.

I’ve tried to keep it rhythmically vibrant, deep, yet full of groove and funk; just the way i like it in the dance.

This is a 30 minute mix which merely scratches the surface of just some of my tastes and favorites old and new.

every thursday 10-12 gmt

Im gonna do predominately all exclusive tracks that haven’t been air before and throw a few released tunes in there. Got about 5 new tunes and a load of unfinished tracks that i think i will loop up and put in the mix.

As a kid I’d turn just about anything into a drum - rain gutters, hubcaps, desks, etc.

Through high school I furthered this rhythmic obsession by playing in bands and diving headfirst into IDM.

In college I translated my passion for beats from drumsticks to decks, and began djing at the school’s eccentric little radio station.

In 2004 a new sound caught my ear - dubstep! I’ve been djing and throwing shows all over California ever since.

This mix is an homage to my two favorite swaths of sound - dubstep and IDM.

Information on artists:

Coleco:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... dID=608482
(Unfortunately thats the best page I can find about him. Has alot of his tunes to listen to etc.)

Flippo:
http://www.myspace.com/musicflippo
(Australian producer found lurking the forum)

HexaDecibel:
http://virb.com/hxdb
(Good player. Loads of his tunes in there. From Vancouver, Canada I believe.)

Ramadanman:
http://www.myspace.com/ramadanman

Vaccine:
http://www.myspace.com/vaccinedub
(Californian Lady! Devoted ninja.)

SomeJerk:
http://www.myspace.com/somejerk
(South Florida, otherwise somewhere around the forum…)

Parson:
http://www.myspace.com/parsondub

Sully:
http://www.myspace.com/sullysg6

Pangaea:
http://www.myspace.com/journeytopangaea

TRG:
http://www.myspace.com/trgproductions

Tayo:
http://www.myspace.com/djtayo3000

With the mix as a whole I tried to bring in the best of what the forum has to offer. With records released/labels launched by dubstepforum associates aswell as quality unreleased dubs. Coleco, somejerk and Hexadecibel being the unreleased talent. Hexadecibel winning the last dubstepforum sample pack contest ‘n all…(and someone I could see going on to huge things!)

I used the Flippo track “Rain” as it is A) a wicked bit of work, and B) as its the second release on the dubstepforums label, pressing issues. Where tracks are sent in by members of the forum, and are voted for anonymously leading to a final tracks making it to press.

Sully is a long-standing dubstepforumer who’s going on to big things now imo. Getting lots of tunes released now, and rightly so cos they’re ridiculously good. His “give me up” on 2nd drop records, as well as the phonebox EP on Frijsfo beats I used in the mix are bloomin’ amazing.

Vaccine, Pangaea and Ramadanman I’m also guessing need no introduction, but I used their tunes particularly again for their long-time affiliation with the forum. And again because they’re wicked tunes…I used the Ramadanman tune “response” as it was the first release on our very own Deapoh’s label (and online shop) Bare Dubs. (http://baredubs.com) Deapoh has of course been supporting the scene seemingly forever, with his grime/dubstep mix download site “barefiles” that helped to spread the scene endlessly by offering thousands of mixes by all sorts of dubstep/grime artists worldwide for free download.

Parson is another long term ninja, who produces some seriously interesting music…and discussions

…And I haven’t really got any affiliation with TRG or Tayo…But I think they make bloody marvelous music what! Very Happy

(oh yeah, got a show on sub.fm starting soon. Will be Wednesday afternoons on rotation with an old mate of mine who lives up in Edinburgh - 4linehaiku on the forum)

It might just be me being dense, but electronicexplorations.org seems to be down?
Really wanna hear this back! Cos boy oh boy did I not half have some troubles with the mix. Lethal combination of dirt cheap CDJ, a skipping CD, one broken 1210 and one day to record it in a mate of mines living room. Yikes! :o
Was using his TV for speakers...

need to free some memory (i.e. thre's a leak), or tweak the 'memory_limit' parameter in php.ini

It's a PHP thing

My mate is looking into it coz Im crap at that sorta thing .. I'm off to work now, so it'll hopefully be fixed when I'm back .. sods law it had to happen on the Dubstepforum Takeover show Image
