Live on stage :: THE MANDIBLES
Jazz, swing and dangerous rhythms. The baddest and maddest beats in town, these guys will leave you in a state of arousal! The Mandibles have that ragtime, jazz, big-band vibe going on which they perform with such enthusiasm (not to mention great musicianship) that you simply get drawn into their world. They feature double bass, sax, trumpet and keys. They are arguably Bath's favorite band at the moment. - http://www.myspace.com/themandibles
From London and representing Fat! Records :: GELLA
Gella is a producer and DJ of electronic music. He's been making noises with samplers, computers and whatnot for the last 16 years. Hi recent remix of Boabinga and Id's party tune 'Jump up, Get hype' was praised with 5★'s in IDJ Magazine and his remixes of Unique 3 and Merka have also been released to critical acclaim. There's a forthcoming Gella album on Fat! Records, due out November 2008. Think Bassbin Twins meets Rico Tubbs meets Vex'd. - http://www.myspace.com/gellabeats
From Leicester and showcasing his new album :: ROB SPARX
An excellent Double Bass, Piano and Guitar player, Rob Sparx has been writing and DJing dance music since the late 90s. Robs first drum n bass release in January 2004, "Rob the Builder - Can you fix it", was the start of a wave of DNB releases on labels including Grid, Zombie, Up Yours, Propaganda and Formation. His tunes proved popular with plenty of DJs including Zane Lowe, Grooverider, Bryan G, Bailey, LDouble, Marky, Nicky Blackmarket, Flyte and Ash Attack. Rob soon got bored writing tunes on his own and hooked up with producer Tunnidge (aka Spook) to compose a series of comedy jumpup classics including "Attack of the Wolfman", "Atomic Supermen" and "Daves Wives".
Late 2004 Rob started producing for lots of different labels associated with distribution company Z-Audio, releasing DNB, Breakbeat, Progressive House/Electro and dubstep. Sparx and Tunnidge formed "Freaks of Nature" and Rob also formed Electro/Breaks collective DTM (Dirty Thieving Mongrels) with Breaks DJ Andy Leavy and dubstep duo "The Dubstitutes" with Jay Tompkin (aka MC Task). The Dubstitutes first production "Two Faced Rasta" (Dubting) featured an excellent remix from Reso which has been played by plenty of DJs including Skream, Benga, N-Type, Walsh, Rusko, Zane Lowe and Joe Ransom (Kiss FM/Fabric). Robs 1st solo dubstep production "Independent life" was also a success getting plenty of plays on Rinse FM. Remixes of one of Robs first ever productions "The Prayer" (1999) from DJs Cyrus (Random Trio) and Distance have also had plenty of radio play over the years on stations including Rinse FM and 1xtra (Mary Anne Hobbs). Dirty Thieving Mongrel's productions have proved popular with plenty of house DJs including James Zabelia, Nick Warren, Anthony Pappa, Laurent Garnier, Colin Dale and Gabriel Ananda. DTM mixes have also featured on a number of radio shows including Ministry of Sound. Expect deep moving bass. - http://www.myspace.com/sparx3000
Hamswell Festivals rising star :: THE DISCO KING
The Disco King is a musician from the west of England currently based in Bath. He likes to press buttons on his computer so that it makes some sweet funky noises for him. His unique 8-bit style is totally fat and when heard on a system it has a crunchy and powerful edge unheard of in any other genre. His legendary remixes of 'Harder Better Faster Stronger', 'Ghostbuster's feat. Gwen Stephani, Black Eyed Peas + Reel 2 Reel' and 'You Be My Princess Peach' are all dancefloor gems. The Disco King is a complete party in a box, completely unmissable. - http://www.myspace.com/discokingmusic
IOTD's longest standing hip hop resident :: CHUCKY T
DJ Chucky T has been with Impact since our launch in 2005. His dexterity, selection and nature combine to create a high caliber and technically adept Dj of choice. Having played every night worth knowing about in the area he is well established and a well known Bath favorite.
Formally of the whizzkidzz.... :: SPEEDY WILL
Speedy Will will be holding down the bashy breaks and garage sound upstairs. Keeping it moving and representing big bass and melody, he will be at the forefront of the party vibe.
