I have been making beats for 5 years on the same program. Couldn't get into others I tried. Thought I had my formula down. Pretty set in stone and reluctant to change anything.

Thanks to you guys practically raving about it I actually figured it might be worth a shot, downloaded the 10MB demo of Renoise, and fiddled for a couple hours.

It took 4 hours to know this will be a permanent transition. This program is very practical, transparent and comprehensive, and SOUNDS AMAZING.

Renoise is, in fact, the bomb. I been usin trackers since Octamed... They're just so damn precise!

Is it better for people who make music using a mouse? from what I have seen in demos there is a lot of numbers on the go.

I like to just use my keyboard and put things where I feel like as I hear etc.

hmm might give it a try, i keep hearing good things about it on here, is there a version for mac?

I don't make tunes with the mouse. I use my midi keyboard/ pad kontrol along with hardware and key commands.

i got the demo, saw all the numbers and weird shit, and got the hell out of there.

i've got maximum respect for anyone that makes music with this program!

I still dont really know exactly what I'm doing yet but I can tell it's going to be a better way (for me) to 'see' my music layed out. It's confusing at first but all those little slots where numbers get typed are like steps in a step sequencer. It makes sense after watching the tutorials and fiddling for a bit.

I love Renoise. I've said it numerous times before, but I cannot imagine making music with anything else!

one of the cool things about it for me, got it set up looking like a 909 hehe

My husband - whom I share the studio with - picked it. I just went along because some of the other skins are like an icepick in the eye.

Mostly drum & bass, but a bit of dubstep, IDM, and ambient techno too. He taught me almost everything I know about production.

good to hear stuff made on Renoise. unfortunately, as much as it seems easy to learn, it'll take quite some time for me to fully understand the program

i just can agree that renoise is a bit unusual but a very clever and simple tool. as i have no keyboard or other musical harware, i very appreciate the simulation of midi keyboard with very short latency. and when you use to unusual timeline layout, which i think saves the desktop place pretty much, there is no other choice just only one little problem i have, pluging VSTs to all the samples and tracks i need. till nowadays i have been using reason, so finding good VSTs will take a bit labour for me, but thats a challenge i must take.

Alot of fast glitch/break stuff comes out of Renoise, seems more suited to that sort of thing. Would love to hear some deep soulful melodic stuff come outa it, seems like it would be more hard work but yeah.

due to being stuck with an ancient 1.6 ghz 256mg ram dell laptop I too am currently learning Renoise, as I can't find anything else that will run well on this fossil.
