of my 60 inch tv.
Basically out of nowhere my pride and joy stopped working ( this was about a month ago, but then again I rarely watch tv ) and I've had a tv repairman come out to my house and tell me that it would cost around 300 bucks or so to fix it.
I loveee the tv so much and I just can't have anything smaller than that. Granted its about 8 years old, but anyone knows anything about tvs here?
Now I feel super stupid because usually I am very through, but I didn't ask what was wrong with it. Its a sony XBR, 60 inch.
I could probably get another big screen, slightly newer for maybe 400-450
But yeah, anyone with knowledge has any say in it ?

From previous experience, TVs are very rarely worth getting repaired. Just not value for money. Not sure how electronics goods prices over there compare with those over here in the UK, but prices for TVs have dropped a hell of a lot. I'd probably recommend using the 300 or so dollars to put towards a new one.

its perfect for my apartment
i live on a decent sized 1*1 and turned my bedroom into my closet
and bought my bed out to the living room, so my living room is like the most comfortable place ever. and the huge tv just adds to it.

Depends on how much money you have
if you can afford it, then get another one...
if this person can 100% fix it totally, then ide say get the bad boy fixed...
and upgrade in another 3 years, when new types of tvs come out..
whilsts your thinking

Scrap it and get a HD one, a smaller TV will probably be better for your eyes.

A decent 1080P 50" LCD is only 1500 bucks now. I'd go for LCD over plasma because you don't have to worry about burn in.
Since your TV is old I assume its a rear projection? Toss it.

I did that for a while, and occasionally I pass out on my couch which is in my 'closet.'
its my happy room, because every time I go in there I fall in love again with all my shoes. And my living room is like this over-sized room. The bed looks like a really big comfortable couch. and I have really dark curtains so its almost like a movie theater as well.
I've been in this place for 6 months and just recently I've been able to call it home.

You might be able to get the place you buy your new TV from to take the old one. You can also pay off the garbage man, but usually that only works for taking "toxic" goods, not helping you move something out. Get help from friends.
A lot of times I give my old shit away, even if it doesn't work. People are always stupid enough to want a "project." Just offer someone the TV for free, tell them its broken and you have no idea what is wrong, and if they want it they have to move it out.
