Mc's over Dj's

Personally, I hate the idea. The only time I wanna hear a MC is on a hiphop track. Because, lets face it, it's usually some asshole jibber jabbering over a tune making shit sound bad. I've never heard anyone MC over dubstep, but I always thought it was a bad idea over DNB and can only assume the same over dubstep.

It is the same IMO. You know how we roll in Picksburgh, 0 MC's. I want to hear the music for fucks sake.

yea they just need to know when to STFU, and shouldnt be worried about spitting multiple bars unless they are REALLY GOOD.
workin the mic is so key too obviously, as in tone of voice.

a mere handful of tunes which call bullshit on your questionable theory (just off the top of my head):
skeng
almighty father
anti-war dub
trauma
shake out your demons

coming from a grime background i don't mind MCs at all, sometimes they add to the hype of a set or tune. it really depends on the type of set/tune though, sometimes they're not appropriate, sometimes they are. IMO

there are a select number of mcs who i actually personally like from a dnb perspetcive becuase they add something to the sounds or the tune and then they generally pause to allow the tune to blend itself. yes agreed hyping the crowd is important but ask this, when a biig tune drops such as (im sounding old now) messiah - that didnt need some utter twat jabbering like hes on e over the top - i want to ehar that massive drop thanks very much.
but again its matter of taste , the style the dj is playing and the venue as well.
and its all personal

I'd like to add..
Milanese - Dead Man Walking (feat. Virus Syndicate)
That tune is one of the best vocal tracks ive heard.
The vocal compliments the beat and the beat compliments the vocal.
So, really if its on the right track I have no problem with it what so ever, this means in a dance sense too.
If the tracks realllllllly nice to flow on and the person holding the mic can..
A) Actually rap/spit
B) Doesn't over-power the DJ by shouting and begging rewinds.
C) Chats negetive stuff.
I'm 100% up for MCs.

Its as simple as anything imo. A good MC at a dubstep night is a good thing, a bad MC at a dubstep night is a bad thing.
For example, nothing beats monsieur pokes or a crazy D dropping a few well timed phrases before a drop, or to keep the motion going during possibly a repetitive part of a tune that has gotten a bit tiresome etc. But, when I was at skream in Cardiff the other night, it doesn't get any worse than some coked up wanker yelling "OLLIE OLLIE OLLIE, OI OI OI" over archangel for fucks sake.

As much as I love hip hop, and Mc's... I hate it over dubstep and DnB.
I'm not gonna drop any names but I went to a party in LA the other night w/ a HUGE headliner from the UK. All was fine and dandy EXCEPT they had a MC on the stage the WHOLE night. Now at the begining of the night it was hype for a second. But when a dj comes thousands of miles (across a f'n ocean even) to preform and you can't even pay attention to thier set because some egotistical asshole who apparently LOVES his own voice won't shut the fuck up... that's a problem. So many sick tracks that homie was droppin and I couldn't barely even enjoi it.
my $.02

I haven't heard an accordion player along side dubstep but I have a pretty good idea what it would sound like and I can safely avoid it without wondering of I missed something.
I had an MC show up to one of my parties and I "accidentally" forgot the mic cord. Oops! Luckily the night went off ok with out him

I don't mind it in itself, but its just overdone and most of the MCs are complete shit.
Its kind of like disco house gets all the shitty vocalists, bass music gets all the shitty MCs.
That said, there are certainly exceptions, some of which have been mentioned here.
