Did any of yall on the island ever catch this joint? This was 2001 i think, the single off thier debut album "Let's get free." These guys are probably the most revolutionary, politically and socially conscious rap youll ever hear. they also, humorously, promote a good diet, and organizing your day in advance.
they kind of fell off after their first album, but that shit was incredibly dope, and even featured a track by the then relativlely unknown Kanye West.

Anyway, this track has what I think of when talking about bass weight. like seriously the fucking heaviest bassline i think of any hiphop song. but i was listeing to it the other day and wondering if the drums werent a bit steppy...or somesuch....the song assumed a newfound relevance for me, having listened to the progressive rhthym structures in dubstep.

i can post the song when i get home if anybody want.

I love that tune and yea u could drop that on a Grime set or suttin blatantly!!

But if I want CONSCIOUS lyrics from the stateside I gotta go for Killah Priest.

"walking through the pineal gland like it was an unforeign land/ knowledge iz the key to the mind which is a mysterious doorway/through a long dark hallway/use your concsience as a compass to avoid being conquered by nonsense/use your subconcious as a map/ when it's time to head back/use your food for thought to leave bread tracks......."

Check "Heavy Mental" his first album if you haven't already

Peace

'Bigger Than Hip Hop' has been a anthem at parties in my local town for over two years. Everyone always sings a long to the lyrics and the bassline is classic

I saw DJ Vadim last night, and he finished his set with a mix from Zinc's 'Super Sharp Shooter' to 'Bigger Than Hip-Hop'. Made my night for sure.
It's a massive tune.

That Mix Master Mike Delta Blues thing on Scratch is probably my favourite bit in the whole movie.
