I'm completely out of the loop

Music, at least new music has taken a back seat in my life unfortunately - I guess this is sort of a cop out? but can folks recommend some good tunes and mixes for me? I LOVE Vaccine recordings, any thing that Scuba has done is right up my alley - that sort of sound. Dark and with a little more focus on the breaks, Intex Systems comes to mind.

I remember really being interested in a producer named Threnody who had done some paradox remixes. I also love that sound.

ok I know this might be seen as completely lazy but might also start a great conversation?

thanks!

here's an answer to my own question - but I'd love to learn about different producers too.

you might like some stuff on the 7even label. I find myself drawing for that shit again and again, its nice to be able to play out a side holding tight the whole way through.

Check out Kito, Skream's new signing: http://www.myspace.com/thisiskito

You might also be into Phaeleh: http://www.myspace.com/phaeleh

There was quite a substantial thread that's still going about "chillout/ambient" dubstep producers: http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=63194

And I'm doing a new studio mix in the next month or so...

EZ Plume. I'm out of the loop, too. Been ages, but I remember you from the good old days here. Don't really have anything to add but that I am in the same boat!

You know I was just thinking about bumping those threads after our chat the other day!

I've said it before and I'll reiterate it here - Gravious's tunes on Hotflush are in part what got me into this music, and made me want to mix it.

Check out the tunes on http://www.virb.com/phaeleh !!!!!

Specifically, check the tunes "Isolate" "Fire (feat Ngaio)" "Vaccine - Atrium(phaeleh rmx)" and "Lounge"

Probably some of the best tunes I've heard in ages. Really beautiful stuff and definitely along the lines of the Vaccine stuff. And also some garagey clips posted on the link attached to the image in my signature. Go check it.

Look for some announcements about tunes in the near future. I think you'll pee your pants.

true that. Gravious also is making stuff along those lines. Big it up all the epic steppers.

That's awesome that you guys are the ones to respond in here....
Gravious, Paul and Christine, I will never stop listening to you guys, never have! I have everything I could get my hands on from you! Buy them without listening first.

hey Kate! still in Charlotte? I miss the old NC board. :(

And I LOVE the fact that you all have chimed in personally. Makes me realize that this scene is still very much level headed.

I'm in LOVE with the last Vaccine mix that I got, of course I need more and I also need to research some track listings.

I've heard some of your music, Gravious, and I agree I believe it's what I'm looking for.

Someone sent me a link for an all Intex Systems dubstep mix. I remember a dnb release back a ways on Offshore that of course blew my mind - their (his/hers?) music is amazing.

and I absolutely agree with the last thing that Kate said. It defines what I consider good music, keep it up y'all. I need to become more versed in this genre - this and techno is what's been inspiring me lately. they go well together too!

Well why not? It's music, it's not exactly curing cancer. :)

I don't believe that to be the case, but your results may vary. I know few people who believe music is instrumental to their recovery from illness. But yea, responding isn't too hard. I'm glad people take the time to post here honestly, lets us know what is on their minds sometimes, because otherwise the only relationship we have is through tunes we hear on some website somewhere.

Gives us incentive to buy the tunes as well, if the person is helpful and pretty decent on the forums.

Many years in the d'n'b scene... I'm sure you might know what I'm getting at. And I also disagree about the cancer comment.

:D

Plume, I'm in Greensboro, but yeah! I'm still here. What about you? It is so easy to fall out of the loop here. It is intimidating when you haven't been keeping up with stuff day to day, when you sit down and try to sift through all of the new artists and labels that are popping up. It was hard enough finding the good stuff in 06. Now it's like walking into the shopping mall and trying to find a left handed pair of pinking shears.
