Surface Tension Recordings is a new label based in the Midwest USA, dedicated to releasing good music that sits somewhere in the outer fringes of dubstep, techno and garage. We love music with melodies, creative beats and bass that stirs the soul and moves the feet at the same time.
Our goal: to bring you electronic music that retains a firm hold on its roots, but finds new ground and moves past the formulaic templates of each genre.
Bass music: redefined.
Surface Tension Digital will be more straightforward dubstep business, while Surface Tension Vinyl will be a bit more melodic and experimental. There are just too many good tunes to choose from and we both have eclectic tastes!
Surface Tension is run by US DJ/Producer DJ Shiva (www.myspace.com/djshiva) and fellow DJ/Producer Fibrous Oxide.

Indigo hails from Manchester, UK and has a release dropping soon on his own Mindset label, with many more to come once his unique sound is heard. With this, his debut on Surface Tension Digital, he gives us quirky sounds, mighty basslines and a unique beat methodology. "Ignite" kicks in with a melodic drone and galloping halfstep beat/bass combo, adding dubbed out drum elements, and a rhythmic conga line running behind the whole thing. "Torn Apart" picks up the pace with a weighty slow bass drop, slamming into broken beats and a percussive techno synth line, sure to wake up any dancefloor. Keep an eye out for more Indigo tunes on Surface Tension Vinyl.
