MALA [DMZ, Tempa, Soul Jazz, Deep Medi, Tectonic, London.UK]

Mala is one half of Digital Mystikz: South London’s finest purveyors of meditational bass weight. Pioneers of the thriving dubstep scene, producers & DJs as well as label owners and promoters, they unleash a dense concentration of dubwise good vibrations that would make Jah Shaka and Aba Shanti equally proud. Digital Mystikz’ record label DMZ is a flagship for the movement, and the London institution Soul Jazz is fond of them too, as is Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label. Their monthly DMZ night in deepest Brixton is where spiritual explorers go for the grittiest grime aftermath, where all drops come spiked with bouncing natty dreads and rude MCs. DMZ has been described as one of dubstep's two "most influential regular clubnight" (the other night beig 'FWD>>'). DMZ's first anniversary, when a queue of 600 people forced the club to move from its regular 400-capacity space to Mass' main room, has been cited as a pivotal moment in dubstep's history.

Mala is dubstep royalty. Even Skream looks up to him (said so himself). He hits deep and soulful, while keeping the dancefloor locked. The fact that half of his 2009 year is already booked solid speaks for itself.

CLIX + BULLET BILL [Sauve Assassins]

With over 10 years of DJ experience, Clix shows his mastery of fast mixing and mind-bending scratch techniques at each and every opportunity he's given. He had his first radio spot with DJ Rubix in 2001 in the Toronto area, and over the years played well over 300 shows including a role as a scratch DJ with a few bands on stage., most noteably F1rst Gear in 2004. A party promoter as well with his own Failsafe productions, Clix knows no limits, and his performances prove it.

To Bill, Drum n Bass has always been more a way of life than simply music. From the early days of playing hard rock bass guitar getting his first decks in high school, the lowdown sound just seemed to fit naturally. After his first DJ connection with DJ Clix and MC Hydee, they began smashing dancefloors all over the Toronto area. Bill was commonly seen tearing it up at Future's, Rinse Cycle Sundays, and U of T radio.
Presently residing in Vancouver with a decade of DJing behind him, Bill continues to bang out the big bass bombs in DnB, and in his newfound love, Dubstep. He is now heard all over Vancity with such greats as Fixed Fridays (RIP), MO Fire on Dubstep FM, Shadow Jugglers, and Thursday Ting. More recently he has hooked up with the Suave Assassins crew and is now a resident at Signature Sundays @ The Lamplighter. Bullet Bill = Bassline Bombs.

looking forward to this.

Mala killed it in Portland, but for some reason the decks in the venue were set up on top of speakers...so there were a bunch of needle jumps while he was deep in the mix.

know Vancity will be prepared though!
