looking for some recommendations, avid fan of converge, refused, the end, dillinger escape plan etc...

anything you guys rate in this area? looking for solid albums preferably but fire away. also looking for more chilled stuff in this area...

Tortoise probably fall under post-rock/jazz, their best albums imo are Tortoise,Millions Living Will Now Never Die,TNT and Standards.The Ex are dutch post -punkers and the album they did with ethiopian jazz legend Getatchu Merkuria - Moa Anbessa is pretty cool. You Should also check out Battles and Don Caballero on the post rock /math rock side of things.

mathcore sounds bonkers buts its defo more fitting than the three other genres you mentioned!

Mogwai, 65daysofstatic, at the drive in/mars volta is math rock/post rock, right?

If you are looking for Post punk, strictly post punk, i would suggest Wire - 154, probably one of the best albums ever recorded.

i don't know, if hardcore can be progressive and dynamic then yup, converge, refused and DEP are hardcore, but hardcore as I know it has always been thrashy and brutal as an end in itself... the bands I named sound like they're setting out from a different foundation from other hardcore bands.

Might be just that I like these bands and don't want to lump them with the rest of the crap that gets labelled hardcore. I hate getting tangled in genres anyway - it is what it is.

p.s: the end - within dividia is same sort of intensity and progression as 1st album DEP...the new album is v different but if you havn't heard within dividia it's worth scouting out.
