Yo, been thinking about getting some of my tunes tunes pressed on dubplate. Wondering how to go about it and if anyone knows a good place to get that taken care of. Can i send them something thats been mastered by myself, or is it essential to have them master it specially to be put on such a format. Would like to know how people have gone about this. Thanks.

It says on the dubstudio website that they do a little bit of mastering to make it ready to be cut and that's included in the price. As long as you've got a good mixdown I guess you should be fine. I was thinking the same thing myself because it's just not the same playing on CDs in a club! Anyone else recommend Dubstudio?

Dubstudio is great - cuts some great vinyl dubplates, and Henry has a very kind service.
If you want acetate dubplates instead, most people will recommend you Transition Studios.

dubstudio is wicked! can't recommend them enough. Agree with rev, if you want an acetate plate Transition would be the one

dubstudio is top dollar - doesn't say on the website, but they do acetates if you ask for them. I've ordered with transition before and they take a while, whereas dubstudio have had mine delivered to my door within 2 or 3 days. can't speak highly enough of them. (also good prices - acetates are the same price as vinyl dubplates)

which would be preferable, acetate or vinyl?

acetate dubs sound better but have a tendency to wear and become crackly the more you play them. you can still get quite a lot of play out of them though - part of the reason i cut is to have a good sounding dub. the vinyl dubplates last as long as a normal vinyl record, but don't sound as good. certainly on the low end. most big name dubstep dj's cut acetates, but it's down to your own preference. i've cut both and personally prefer acetates.

what are the rules on buying a wav and cutting it to a dub, would the sound quality be good enough to use?
