I had one of these about 2 weeks ago. I was doing final touches to a track and bam - death - never to be recovered. I had saved a very early version of the track seperate - i was able to load it. Awesome yeah? No - after working on it for about 20 mins i had a spontanous crash to desktop (hence name of my latest track done in the hours after the crash - i was pissed off....). And now - everytime i open that file i get 30 seconds before it crashes.

This led me to believe the culprit is NI Massive - in both files.

The 2nd version can be saved i think... but im over it....

The 1st version is long gone - angry... just another track tho...

And yeah - and i've never had this type of error in over 4 years of fruity tracks.. Note to self - Massive may make fruity unstable.... for some reason....

NI Masive has caused me loads of crashes recently, I can only play 12.16 seconds worth of my project before it freezes. The cure is to uninstall and reinstal massive.

ya happened to me too man..i was too discouraged to try and remake it so i just said forget it....but i know the pain man it sucks! next time just save new versions everytime you make good progress, so you will always have a backup.

This has happened to me once in the past. There are ways to possibly recover the track depending on the error. FL Studio does not have an autosave feature, but there is a feature where it creates a backup of the current project you are working on whenever you save and overwrite a file. Depending on if you have worked on anything since trying to recover it, you could possibly get a partial or even full backup of the flp here:
C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 8\Trash bin

It would be called Backup.flp or there may even be a zipped loop package if that's how you were saving it. Just check FL's trash bin. There should be something there. If you haven't worked on anything since trying to recover, it should be the last project you were working on.

Also, sometimes VSTs will cause the .flp to become corrupt by writing invalid header data to the file. If that's the case, it can be corrected by replacing the header values. Try this info here and look at your corrupt .flp in a text editor: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/archive/i ... -3577.html

Also, I'd check FL's trash bin first prior to trying to change header values. Also make a backup of your corrupted flp and make the header changes to that instead.

If you don't feel comfortable trying to change the headers yourself, there is also a tool that a FL Studio user posted that will do it for you. Check this post with info and download link:
http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=15396

Good luck! The only time this happened to me, I tried all this header replacement shit first and it wasn't the problem. I nearly gave up and took it as a loss until I found a working backup in FL's trash bin.

Man, I get this with FL Slicer all the time. "Error adding..." then when I reopen it "No .flp in the package". There doesn't seem to be anything in the trash bin AND it only happens when yer in the middle of a screamer. Grrrr..... Zip is there but no flp in the zip folder. Where did that go?
I've lost a few wee belters recently!

Could be cracked software,
could be a dodgy sector of your hard drive *cause its trying to write your save to the disk at the time*

Never had that problem with the slicer and I use it all the time. Never had .flp's not be in my zipped loop files either. If you are using a cracked version, then there is no doubt you will have problems. It should copy to FL's trash bin whenever you save and overwrite a file. If you aren't saving or overwriting, then there isn't going to be anything there.

ctrl+n frequently or whenever you make changes. Then you'd at least have multiple versions to work off of if the current project crashed and got corrupted.

nice one lads. It's legit software (FL6)but the machine is old right enough. It happened loads a while back, then seemed to fix itself and now is friggin about again.
It's just wierd that the flp completely disappears. Lost a wee beauty the other night when I was finally getting into the zone too. All the samples are there in the zip too, only the flp is gone.
