Fruity loops stuttering, CPU problem?

does anyone have the problem of fruity loops stuttering when there's a lot going on i.e. effects/samples/wavs in the bottom window etc. ? if I play the demo tune (who the fuck made that shitter of a song anyways!?) the CPU light peaks which tells me that maybe I need to upgrade my memory?

I've been getting around this by creating my desired effects then switching them off until I render the tune piece by piece to see if it sounds right but it's really getting on my nerves going the long way round.

Upgrading memory, freeing up some hard disk space both worth trying if you are regularly maxing-out your CPU.

Or get a new processor (more pricey)

I'm sure the processor and memory are above what's reccomended for fruity and cubase though, I'm largely using samples though could this be a drain on memory?

If your using lots of large wav samples and the like, it can eat up your memory pretty badly, especially if you have lots of effects on them too.

But if you have a decent computer it shouldn't be too much problem.

Maybe someone who actually uses fruity could be more help...?

I always used to have the same problem with fruity, it wasnt a case of when too many effects were being used, just seemed to have a mind of its own and stutter whenever it felt like...
I got a new PC and dont really use fruity any more, i thought it may have had something to do with the fact it was copy...Not much help sorry but adding memory is always a good option, esp if you use loads of .wav like Gravious said...

if you try increasing the buffer length, that should help.. (if my memory serves me correctly)

it might be soundcard problem.

check your asio settings, it probably is something buffer related

or you might have too many other things running in the background, try setting up a boot with as little as possible running

If u use the smart disable option on the mixer by right clicking on the effect channel it will disable the plugin when not being used.

fruity just does that. there's no real way to get around it if you're loaded up on fx and vsts

instead of using effects during the production part... make a loop of what your using effects on and then put the finished product into the sequencer... this cuts down on a LOT of CPU issues...

same thing with drums...
instead of programming your drums through the whole song, make drum loops and plug the loops into the mix instead of each hit..

i had the same problem, and this helped out a lot...

cheers guys, will have to go through the sugguestions tonite, I'm sure it's not a hardware problem because I've got a pentium 3 and 512mb of ram and that's surely enough!

tools/macros/switch smart disable - that will turn off the plugins that are not used for 4 seconds - realy saves the CPU

get an asio card, or big buffer, at least a gb ram and at least a 1.*ghz p4 or higher, fruity will run fine with all sorts of stuff goin at once, im runnin the X-fi platinum card from Creative, independent music processor, handles anything i throw at it.

I get it occasionly, makes it all clicky. Normally i just leave it for a bit and it starts to work again. Normally when i want to work on a tune i restart my computer, get rid of all the programs running at the bottom right (msn, slsk quicktime etc) and it works smoothly.

Also i used this site to strip down all the useless stuff that windows XP has and it has really helped with the speed of my computer. Of course now my desktop looks like its windows 98 but its all good.
