I do this every now and then, the only reason why I use cubase, only got one piece of hardware but its a korg triton and it makes loads of sounds

Yep... I work entirely in hardware.

I will be recording using software but that is just a matter of convenience.

haha yeah well me too, been doing a live set for a minute now. I do love bass clef's stuff though.

Hardly high end, but i have an MC-303, haven't made a full track on it ever, mostly because one side of the stuff i do is very sample based and the other is very effects based, and neither are all that possible on it, but i wouldn't mind trying sometime.

Some damn cool sounds on that thing though

oh, and when i say only on hardware, i mean, even the sequencing, naturally. i mean, that the final output is recorded on to a hard disk, but otherwise, does not run through a computer at all.

it's quite interesting messing with a drum machine in this way.

It's only on fair occasions when I'm getting past the 8 bar loop but it's always still always with my MPC.

Only use hardware but only have one bit lol! TI but it does everything I need apart form real life sounds like Trumpets!

Only problem is the bouncing down you have to do, its long but worth it for that sound!

most certainly ... especially 2+ drum machines and then mixing pieces from each one together into entirely new and odd combinations. Dubstep seems to lend itself really well to hardware composition all in all. I just need get a better delay (and a multi effect unit) to really go bonkers.

Oh yeah. about half of the stuff we are doing are hardware only. (MPC2000xl, SP-303 style)

The other half is made on software. We have alot of tracks made entirely on hardware.

It is a very fun way to work i think.

if i hadn't of sold my MPC 1000 a couple of years ago I would agree with you,

worst decision of my music "hobby career" selling that thing loved it to pieces,

as soon as i get out of uni/get a job i will be investing in a lot of hardware,

i like making music on pc's but i work a lot better with a dedicated box/boxes in front of me.

I use a couple Korg Synths with a nice drum machine on my korg radias.
Recording with ableton and use a few compressors in there but nothing else.
Really want to get an akia drum machine.

yeah, i've been rocking the korg electribe mx and sx for a while now. both are pretty dope, although limited. But thats the best thing about hardware! You've gotta really dig deep to work out some tunes, and plan ahead, but you can make some sick stuff if you get into it. Also, the process of arranging on hardware makes you approach things from an entirely different angle.

you know, im working on some stuff, it's a bit different though. tbh, i like messing with the electribes, but i dont feel like they sound "produced" enough alone... to stand up against the dubstep of today.

regardless i'm getting things together - i'd like to take this show on the road.
