For those people who cant afford Serato.. .and want a much cheaper solution what you could do is

Buy 2 BEHRINGER UCA 202..(http://www.imuso.co.uk/ProductDetail.as ... de=ST00501)

20 quid Each=40 QUID




These basically are the same as ...


And you would need to buy 2 TIME CODED VINYLS(10-15quid eac) to put on your decks.



And rest is fairly simple

Plug out outputs both of the usb sounds cards.. in to channel 1 and 2 on ur mixer
and then RCA cables from decks to the input of each soundcard

Only Disadvantage with this is you would need a program which LETS YOUR CHOOSE YOUR SOUNDCARDS(which Serato,Torq dont let you do as they are specifically designed to be used with there special hardware)l

You would need to use software such as Numark Cue( Aka Virtual Dj) To be able to scratch your MP3.
I would recommend this to be a home set up and wouldn't recommend people taking a setup like this to a club but it is perfect for practice

For 20-30 Quid Extra you could get ONE dedicated USB soundcard to connect your decks to ..
Numark DJ IO:70-80 quid


Or

ESI Maya 44 USB 60-70 quid


And also if any of you got CDJS .. you can download a MP3 file from

Burn it 2 a blank cd.. and you should be able to scratch on your CDJs

It sounds like a nice'n cheap set for starters, but where do u find those time coded vinyls? I only seem to find the full serato-set when i search for time coded vinyls.

Just Go on Google click shopping then search "Serato Vinyl "

I've got this set up myself. Let me say this:
a) Even with a fast pc (I've got 3GB ram) there is some clear lag
b) I, and a bunch of people on the internet, have never gotten two UCA202's to work at the same time.
c) You need the DJdecks software which is like 30 bucks.

In conclusion, a 4 input Maya soundcard is a better investment, but still not perfect. A diy time code that works well isn't that far from traktor scratch in terms of price.

My setups one UCA 200 but i think they discontinued them and One UCA 202 works perfect lol.. but i know someone with With Maya 44 Usb Sound Card .. there around 60 aswell so you could still buy a Maya 44 =)

So what the final judgement on the setup with one uca 200, if ur not using two anyway? Besides the lag (is it really a problem?) that still sound like a tempting offer to me. I didn't really get the alternative with the soundcard.

Mine dont lag and i dont think you can buy UCA 200 anymore i bourght mine along time ago as i had a mini studios set .. but i reccomend you putting in about 10-15 quid extra and getting a Maya (which has 4 inputs on it already) http://www.dv247.com/invt/froogle/19515/

Why dont u jus download the ASIO4ALL drivers and use it with Virtual Dj Or Numark Cue

Check out Deckadance. I have it and it is solid. Works on mac and PC.

Deckadance is made by ImgeLine and can use any Time code vinal out on the market. ( Important because look what happened to final scratch)

i dont know why this topic has slipped down the page if this actually works and theres not much lag there wouldnt be much need for cdj's imo

digital systems and laptops are much more of a hassle than using CDJS

I really prefer CDJ's for a live performance and the digital to vinyl in the comfort of my own studio

there is nothing worse than your system crapping out on you in a club full of ravers

heh i've seen that happen before on multiple occasions
then again wouldn't have happened if the dj had charged their batteries before hand

they even tell you to never run serato or traktor on your lappy battery

plug it in

if you get that annoying power supply noise, get a new lappy

or...

use cdj's or vinyl

these are soloutions I had to learn the hard way, but I always had one or two vinyl records handy so I can restart the machine

if you start hearing old Distance, Vex'd or Skream tunes...

Toldya you shoulda got Serato. Still never had a problem in the club that was due to my setup. The only time its ever happened was due to a bad turntable that was the club's. That taught me to always have my own needles and vinyl with me, just in case.

I personally just cannot stand CDJs. Ill tempt fate with my DVS system over using them any day of the week.

No, for Serato you need the SL1, TTM57 or SL3. You can use the timecoded vinyls with other programs, but cant use Serato with other interfaces. If you were able to get it to work, I doubt it would work well.

Not sure about other programs using other soundcards though.
