Hello fellow dubsteppers. As im about to get my student loan I'm looking to invest in a set of studio monitors. I've been looking at the HR624s, Ive read reviews on the net and they sound pretty damn good, although there are no shops around my area that i can go and have a listen. Do any of you guys own a pair? what are they like to mix on? is it worth spending £600 on them? or could i go for something a bit cheaper such as the KRK Rokit RP8 and save myself 200 quid. cheers

I would go for it. I got Mackie HR824's which are the beefier counterpart to the 642's. fucking brilliant! Since i got em, my production values seem to have gone up. The only thing is, the 642's don't go quite as low, so you'll probly need a sub. The connectors cost quite alot too. I use XLR's but you can use RCA aswell

i think im gonna end up going for the rokits. i dont see the point in spending an extra 200 quid on a smaller speaker when im gonna have to buy a sub on top of that as well. im trying to make every penny count and at the moment and i think the rokits would be a good investment till i can afford something better.

I got the 624's and they are everything you read!
BUT
They only go down to something like 50hz so I bought a sub (100) to cover that area adn I love em! Had them 3 years now with no issues what-so-ever!
Mackie all the way!
