You've got a reasonable student population though so may be able to get a smaller scale night going.
There seems to be some good things coming up in Manchester that would be down your alley Rob, not too much of a trek (although trains stop running fairly early)

Other than in the major cities of Manchester and to a slightly lesser extent Liverpool and Preston, theres not really too much goin on.
Hope you get something sorted in Lancaster. I'd do my best to make the trip and support. From my experience though. The Lancaster students are fairly rock/indie oriented (Possibly an unfair generalisation).
Hope the business goes well.

there is truth in what ur saying, but it prob is an unfair genrelization, but at the end of the day, there is fuk all to do in lancaster except like 2 shhhhhit clubs, and some whak bars, so any night will be popular, ppl r always up for something different etc

I used to live in Lancaster before I moved to manc. Have been DJing around there for over 4 years and attending events for about 6. Put a few nights on there myself. Nothing on at all anymore as there are hardly any venues to hire, alot of the small scale promoters have simply given up with trying to put anything legit on. Not worth the hassle IMO unless youre doing a one off thing every now and then like the sourpuss boys do. You will be
extremely lucky to get anything going regularly on a large scale in the town centre, let alone a dubstep night. Lancaster is more of an illegal raves kind of place . Also, from my experience, Lancaster isnt particularly big on dubstep. Aside from the moronic scallys and bad taste students that are into the commercial crap thats on in the three main clubs, the party headz are mostly into breakbeat, drum & bass, and psytrance. But good luck with that id be interested to see how you do and give me a shout if you need anything to do with your night im still around there often, id be happy to help

As far as I know there have never actually been any specific dubstep nights on in Lancaster. Just people playing dubstep at nights that are primarily known for other genres

Preston's not much further to drive, is it a bigger city ? Uni populated ? ... established dubstep nights already ?
