After a long-standing mutual respect for each other The Pinch and Mind on Fire, two of Manchester’s finest underground music collectives have decided to join forces to present a series of collaborative club nights at The Deaf Institute. These events will be feature both DJs and live acts representing some of the most upfront styles emerging from electronic music and hip-hop alongside old classics. Providing the music on each night will be the best in local talent along with a few guests from further afield, many of whom will be making their Manchester debuts. Also bringing the vibes on each night will be co-conspirator Cycloptic who will transform the inside of the venue with his unique combination of live visuals and installation art. February brings.....

LUKID
-----
Inspired by obsessions with artists such as The Beatles, Phil Spector, Can, Theo Parrish and Autechre, Lukid produced his 2007 debut album "Onandon" to wild critical acclaim pioneering the early developments of what is now commonly known as "Wonky" a complex and intricately plotted instrumental document that unfolded with slow-burning textured detail, that often recalled the gravely disposition of early DJ Shadow. Yet it’s his grace, sample dexterity and excessive panache that pitch this kid oceans away from the weary blunted brigade.
In a world where artists’ influences can appear paradoxical or sometimes completely unrelated, Lukid hammers his sounds into a single sheet of incredibly intriguing electronic music. You won’t already need to be in love with the languorous beat constructions of Madlib, Dabrye, Flying Lotus, Samiyam and the like to find yourself gently but emphatically floored by the talents of a producer who has built a sound that takes in the low clunk of Cologne minimalism and the low slung soul of Detroit's latter-day mix of cross-pollinated house and hip-hop.

Nice blurbs, sounds interesting and it's a great venue with a decent system. Will this be in the main room upstairs?
