Any dubsteppers in Italy?

Going to Trieste for a year as part of my university course. Want to know if there's anybody representing the scene on the peninsula...

From Firenze. There was a dubstep night for about a month. Not much of a following, but something could happen. Kode 9 rinsed out, guess the crowd was decent.

I know one guy in Trieste, he's more on the broken beats tho.

He's also know a long runnin crew in Slovenia, only about 50 mins drive away... I been getting them into the dubstep sound for a while now, tho they're mainly D&B + Hip hop.

Moody G here, drum and bass producer getting into the dubstep scene and estwhile DJ. Am trying with my partner in Crime (Noizeman) to set up some Dubstep nights alongside DNB nights in Milan/Pavia for this winter......drop me a line if you want more info or want to see about possibilities......

i remmember an interview with giles petterson where he said he made the mistake of dropping a dnb tune while djing out there and sombody tryed to punch him...

Probably just in the wrong place, mate. Drum and Bass goes down well here, but in its context - generally at Centri Sociali ("social centres" which are basically large squats that are organized well and throw parties...with very decent soundsystems in the larger ones). Italy is a place where image is important, and lots of places identify certain kinds of music with certain kinds of people and even with politics. Who knows what was in that guy's head? I've played out DNB in many a small bar as well as clubs and never been punched, but I am much bigger than Gilles! HA HA!
Anyway, back to Italy and Dubstep, I'd really like to get things moving here, hopefully soon if there is any interest, otherwise just produce it for now....

oh no doubt,

i generally think when you push a 'fresh' sound people might not always be responsive at first.

sometimes its just presenting it to the right crowd or the right context, like you say.

keep pushing things forward. good luck.

dubstep is in Rome, Milan, Torino, Ancona, Florence, Verona, and more cities...last year I played with Benga in Florence, we are pushing dubstep best we can

Yeah man, my girlfriend is out in Torino. They have a fortnightly thing going run by Bleits and the Dubside crew, nice little scene and always ram. She saw Skream at some other night and I've heard from her and Skream that the system was shit, but I can vouch for Dubside...or at least the Puddhu Bar system!
