First attempt at a "Dubmetal" re-mix

Tried infusing metal with a dubstep vibe, but it kinda just turned into a

dance track.

Its a remix of Nailbomb's 24 hr bullshit. I basically just ripped a few riffs

off the track an messed about wid them.

I dont think it was really the right track for a dub re-mix, think I should have gone with some groove metal instead.

Well its up on myspace, so have a listen.

I would suggest mixing slower riffs from bands that played Sludgey type metal such as Swans, Melvins or Godflesh.

Check out the Godflesh album "Songs Of Love & Hate". That has some killer slowed down groove oriented riffs that are skull crushing. In particular the tracks "Gift From Heaven", "Hunter" & "Time Death & Wastefulness". Justin Broadrick also released a Dub version of this album such was the feel of it....

The follow up to the awesome "Songs Of Love & Hate" was "Us & Them". This was basically a fusion of Broadricks Godflesh & Ice/Techno Animal projects which featured the devastating Godflesh riffs and nihilism married to the apocalyptic Dub/Hip Hop/Jungle riddims of Ice and Techno Animal.

"Songs Of Love & Hate" and "Us & Hate" are easily my favs from Godflesh........alot of hard-core Fleshies would disagree but I just think the strong Hip Hop/Dub/Jungle influence on the albums mixed with the crushing slow riffing is spectacular.

"Love & Hate" was the only Flesh album to feature a real Drummer apart from the last album "Hymns". "Hymns" somehow still captured Godflesh at it's coldest sounding whereas "Love & Hate" had a real warm PHATT organic feel to it with the Dubby Hip Hop type beats.

As someone who wants to mix Dubstep with heavy guitars (great idea imo) I really would recommend those two Godflesh albums to check out for inspiration and extreme pleasure!

Always wanted to do something with Swans tracks.

Doom and stoner metal also have nice slow riff wich could be awesome to remix. See Electric Wizard.

I have always creamed myself at the thought of a dubstep remix of Funeralapolis or any other EW song really
