As far as I know you can only spin at 33 with Torq. Don't use it myself, but if you're used to 45s it could be a pain. Try the software through *ahem* alternate means (btjunkie), and if you like it see if you can give it a shot at a local music store to see if you like the feel of the vinyl control.

You can't "try" Torq out you have to have the connectiv for the software to work. You can buy the 45rpm vinyl off of mspinky. The prices just went down too. I think it is 28 buck for the two 45rpm control vinyls. I have been using Torq for at least a year and a half now. I play out live with it probably 3 times a month. I love it, totally recommend it. If you do a little search you find a couple other threads on Torq in this forum. Hope that helps.

Ah, does it not have some sort of software-only mode? Or work with other midi controllers than just its proprietary conectiv or xponent?

Nah it doesn't work. I have to hook up my connectiv just to create the torq files or whatever. BTW I wouldn't be recommending people check out pirated software. People get kinda pissy about that on here.

I bought Torq & love it. I have had friends with it for the last few years & it's been perfectly stable for them. I have had it since September & it's been rock solid for me. I highly recommend it.......

My next purchase will be the 45 RPM vinyl from Ms Pinky's, especially if the price really did drop.

Check it out for yourself http://www.mspinky.com/shop/ I haven't bought them yet I just found out myself but you used to have to buy 4 vinyls and it would cost almost $100.

One thing I have yet to do is get a 9v adapter for the connectiv. I actually had it quit playing on me this weekend. It might have had something to do with the fact that I forgot to plug my laptop in but I had to pull the usb plug out and put it back in to get going again. After that I had a flawless set I am pleased to tell you.

i just bought torq and couldnt be happier.
much cheaper, and i really cant work out why. its got more features than serato and final scratch. with an internal effects unit and sampler. although i think the serato interface is probably much better than torq. it seems much simpler.
