I have a slight feeling Dubstep will die the same way Bassline did,
ie people downloading dubstep tunes from ripped vinyls and mp3s brought from the net. On forums, Blogs etc.
Bassline died because too many people (mostly teenagers) was getting fresh tunes that wernt even released and was playing them out on nights, on there phones on buses trains and street corners lol. This made it hard to generate money to the producers, most of the top named bassline producers have started making Funky House tunes now - Dj Paleface, Mr Figz, Wittyboy for example.
Heres one of the things i was talking about -
[link deleted - Mods]
Also too many youths jumping on the scene these days. Example, the kid who posted the 'Cokey' thread the other day if some of you remember, he must of been 13 or so lol.
Another example, this thread here

(youtube yet again)
The internets a good thing, but also bad for things like this to happen which is sad indeed
People like this are seriously damaging the scene (in my point of view anyways, dont know about your opinions on this). But share ya thoughts anyways!! Cheers.

You have valid points dude but i cant help thinking that each time someone makes a thread, or points out whats ruining dubstep etc..its time they could have spend making a tune, listening to some good music or positively contributing. I dont know you at all so im not making judgements, you probably do your thing, but I just reckon half the reason why shit gets bad is cause people fret about it so much. Then comes the domino effect..it is happening with this worldwide "recession" as we speak.

I know someone that's just away to start releasing it so maybe someone should say something lol
"energy dose not cease to exist"
First law of thermodynamics, and this applies to any closed system, basically tells us that energy is always conserved, it can only be transformed, never destroyed.
good old copy & paste
may as well start listening to pop music

i dont know about the Uk but in the states bassline never made a splash, on the other hand Dubstep is huge in every city from coast to coast. so that said, this argument sounds silly from my point of view

bassline? dead? are you mental?
bassline is huge and getting bigger as its appeal broadens and people like the night slugs crew push it to a new audience.

ye dubstep is a much bigger scene. not to mention the MASSIVE difference in the variation of the sound in dubstep compared to bassline.
besides, its got a different attitude towards it. the vinyl culture is very healthy, bootleggers get shut down quickly.
i dont see how u can compare the 2 in the first place, let alone worry about it dying.

yeah i agree with Joker also, the dubstep scene has managed to sit nicely outside of its roots without forgetting them. Bassline has the kind of ride or die element that Grime also did and Speed Garage the first time round. It really is a specific sound which isnt really meant to last as its a snapshot of a place and time.
Dubstep on the other hand is the antidote to "ride or die" garage subgenres.

@ Wolverine99 - posting links to free rips of tunes only helps to spread them further. Please don't do it in future.
