Ez, does anyone know how to defrag Mac's? ive been using them for four years but have never done it.......?
Help would be much appreciated..

you can get software that does it. but they dont recomend you do it as far as i can remmember.
probably better to back up to another drive, flatten it then reinstalll everything.

Yep. It takes a while but it's the best way. I've had to do it a couple of times. Just be really really REALLY carefull when you're saving the files you want to keep..

You know what i mean?

Backing up is always high on the agenda, ive got a seperate hard drive so i back up after every new beat i do.... it also holds all my samples...
If I partition the harddrive does it uninstall all apps automatically? if it does could this be an option?

OS X is based on unix, which basically sorts itself out.
Just leave your machine on a few nights during the week, usually on Friday or Monday nights at about 2 in the morning you will hear your machine making noises - these are the weelky, monthy task being completed - including a sort of defrag of its own.

indeed. no need to defragment a mac-filesystem if you run OSX.

I thought 'Repairing Disk Permissions' (can't remember where in Utilities) was similar?

yeah, it is. i do that every couple of weeks and found it helps things run smoothly
