Im looking at getting a new soft synth, mainly for basses but a good all rounder would be nice.

Got any suggestions?

Ive got albino 3 which i really like and massive but that keeps screwing my computer up so iv given up with that.

i like the way those two work so is there any others out there as good as those that you know of?

iv been hearing things about camel audio alchemy, but am i right in thinking that's a sampler?

Rob papen blue/predator.

Blue has some amazing drum and bass presets, and is good allround, definately.

Alchemy is pretty dam sick its alot of things mashed together like virtual analogue synthesis, spectral and granular sampling (which is real nice for glitching out your beats and sounds)
Omnisphere by spectrasonics is also something to check out as it'll add a totally different pallette of sounds from Albino and Massive.
If you can hold out till May they are releasing a new version of their bass synth called Trillian thats going to be ill. Also Rob Papen has got a new sub bass synth coming out soon but sounds very similar to predator (but have yet to check it out).
Also twin 2 just got released and has a real nice UI but you can probably get those sounds out of the synths you've got already but there's a demo you can download on their site here's a demo on youtube

dont leave out z3ta, its very powerful, even though the LFO isnt as intuitive as some of the other synths, z3ta can do some sick stuff

Surge is really easy to use. What you see there is everything, no hidden tabs like Massive or Blue.

See where it says LFO 1 in the blue rectangle at the bottom?

To assign it to a parameter, just click on it once, then drag the target parameter to the range you want, finally, click back on the lfo button once more to finalise the selection.

Don't let the simple interface put any doubts in your mind about the quality of the sounds this synth produces!

Like Zeta+, each oscillator has waveshaping controls. Where it improves on Z3ta+ is that you can modulate them in realtime with the lfo's, adsrs & stepsequencer! (You can even modulate the lfo's with other lfo's etc, and each lfo has it's own dedicated ADSR so you can fade the lfo in over time )

FAW Circle is interesting, but I don't feel it is as easy to use or as versatile as Surge.

Hmm, I do like those "odd" synths what no one uses I might get a demo of surge... my VST collection is pretty eclectic anyways massive can fack orfffff! S'all about Alpha3

I find it to be one of the easier synths to use.

I have used most of the synths on this page and I can't really even pick a favorite. ANY synth is good for bass tho.

I am curious about Trillogy and the forthcoming Trillian though. Never used these but they have been coming up frequently in CM.

Serious, once you'll have it you'll have plenty of stuff directly available from NI's online library...

Lots of good synths for bass, those times I'm fond of Grobian and BassLab. Both can make either nasty growls or clean sub basses...

"Circle" reviews look good--anyone got personal experience? Is it as professional as Massive / Albino? Would you recommend it?

Yeah I have seen some good reviews too. To be honest I haven't used it much because the dark GUI gives me a headache.
