we got lots of sounds out there in the realm we all know as dubstep; we got dub, techno, hip hop, funky, jungle, house, minimal, glitch, metal, wonky, indian, and many other influences. what are you groovin to as of late, what do you see as being pushed further this year, and lastly explain why you like a certain aspect/style so much. and i don't want to hear the "its all dubstep, stop making subgenres" bullshit. i just like discussing the music i love so deeply. so if you aint got nothin bright to say, then bugger off

anything deep, meaningful, and subby
not nessicarily just atmosphereic, burialesque and echo dub type stuff
but anything with alot of melody and not too dirty, and anything experimental
as of late ive been digging mostly Distance, Ramadanman, Random Trio, Burial, Sines, VVV, older Digital Mystikz (Miracles is a banger too though!), Loefah and 2562

Thanks for the shout...like all musics, different strokes for different folks. From a producer standpoint (as opposed to "fan/listener") dubstep straddles the line of pulse/subdivision/feel almost vertically creating what to me is termed "broken"; that makes me fucking bonkers. Free-jazz/film and TV music/sound design is a major part of my career etc so I like that overall palette. Obviously, there are cultural influences to any given artists work too but in the topic of possibilities of dubstep music this is true for me.
Bass does play a major part in connecting all edm styles. Dubstep has brought bass appreciation to another level of connosuirship/awareness. People love literally feeling loud bass frequencies resonate in their bodies (in the form of amazing beats no-less) no differently than love feeling a massage, good work-out, or other sensual experience. It's cool that bass itself unifies all good edm styles (maybe inadvertently?) creating more crossover, interesting fusions, and ultimately a better edm culture!
