Sonar 2009

''Orbital, Grace Jones, Late of the Pier and Marcel Dettmann are amongst the first acts announced for Sonar 2009.
The Carribean disco vamp and rave granddads Orbital were announced earlier in the week as headliners, and they’ll now be joined by over thirty others including Late of the Pier, SebastiAn, Mujava & MC Mzura, Fever Ray, Erol Alkan, Crookers, Micachu and the Shapes, Moderat (Modeselektor and Apparat), Filastine, Deadmau5, Lars Hornveth and Erol Alkan presenting Disco 3000.
The Mary Anne Hobbs-curated BBC Radio stage, which was a highlight last year with Shackleton, Flying Lotus and Mala, will feature Joker, Gaslamp Killer and Martyn. Ed Banger’s showcase will sport James Pants, Bullion, Breakbot, DSL and Busy P, while Ostgut Ton bring Dettmann and Shed to proceedings, presumably to take up the same Sunday night slot as Dial’s Pantha Du Prince and Efdemin last year.
Sunday Best present Ebony Bones, Rob Da Bank and Dan Le Sac vs. Scoobius Pip, while the Red Bull Music Academy’s showcase features Onra, XXXChange, Dorian Concept, Guillamino, Midee, Cardopusher, Muhsinah, Jamie Woon, Cecile, Culoe de Song and Goldielocks.
So far, it’s shaping up to have more of an emphasis on bass than any other recent Sonar, with Joker, Dorian Concept, Cardopusher, Bullian and others looking likely to steal the show - but let’s wait ‘til the rest of the house and techno is announced before coming to conclusions.
We’re also excited to see which noise and avant-rock acts will take to the stage this June, with Pan Sonic and Pram both being announced late in last year’s build-up to the festival.
Sonar takes place from June 18 - 20.''
Anyone go last year? Anyone going this year? Will the MAH thing be 30 minute long sets again? How much money am I going to have to steal from my mum's purse/old people in general in order to go?
