http://www.richersounds.com/productlist ... KERSTANDS2 innit!
Even some decent spikes/feet can do the world of difference in decoupling speakers from nice big reverberating resinous table tops/shelves/etc.
Wall mounts I would presume carry them too close to the wall (durr...) especially if fitted with rear firing ports. Try and find out the recommended positioning from the manufacturers garb.
cheers

I have been after some for a while now for mixing on. I am 6'4 and I want my speakers about head height and its damn hard to find stands that high.
also the prices are stupid for anything decent.
you know that

prices are silly mate so far i found some for £140 and they are just small stands, might have to stick some books under them for now!

I got the Expedit shelf's from Ikea with some £3 tables underneath to make it the right height for mixing and its mint.
At moment I have my speakers on the same desk and when I play music of course I get feedback down the needles and just get a massive hum, nightmare.
Speaker stands are stupid prices for what they are really and still none are the right height for me.
breeze blocks!

i built my desk from scratch and it nice and solid dont get much vibration but the speakers are too low! been looking for stands since nov and am struggling! might go to steal worker and get some made up specific for the height i need? probably cheaper that way 2!

I use the kwiklok ones. They're solid, adjustable and resonance free. DONT get the samson ones as they are flimsy as hell. I sent mine back as being mis sold as 'professional studio quality!

You could always just use cinder blocks with plumbers putty to decouple them from your desk...dirt cheap

No matter what you get, I'd also get Auralex Mopads to throw underneath your monitors, they're $30 and work great. That's how I roll with my Mackies. The best stands too are the ones with a bass you can fill with sand. I noticed a bit of a difference in the sound.

build your own! 2x4s do wonders.
i can't imagine the huge wad of $ that auralex has made off of convincing people that decoupling is the be-all and end-all of monitoring. all it takes is mass, and like a previous poster said-- $5 worth of cinder blocks and/or empty boxes stuffed with junk do a damn good job. the $30 would be better spent on absorbtion or diffusion treatments to your listening space.

ive just moved mine from proper hifi speaker stands, with sand, but too far apart, onto just a couple fo breezeblocks and they sound loads better. more for being in the correct place than the actual mounting, but breezeblocks are fine. going to get some mopads tho when i get time.
