Actually,I'd say 'The Eternal' is pretty close to dubstep.

Oh...and I hate Joy Division covers(barring a few exceptions).Plus,'Love Will Tear Us Apart' has been covered at least 17 times.

Yeah, but Warsaw was more 70s English Punkrock,so loads of punk bands can cover them, because they keep that punk feel. But to a lot us hardcore Factory and Post Punk heads,JD covers are somewhat considered an act of sacrilege.

I can understand that. Same with Tool covers for a metal head. I heard a dance version of Ænima once...i wept...

some things should not be covered and Joy Division are one of them, any remake of them in any genre is just wrong. a cheeky wee sample aye but a cover,no no and thrice no.

Is it me or are there a lot of covers now, seems a bit lazy imo.

yup.
plus.. considering all the eerie darkness they recorded, love will tear us... has got to be one of the worst choices to make a dubstep remix of
unless it was pure gimmick i guess

yeah I felt the same way about the Bergerac theme tune, then that pesky Shackleton got his mitts on it.

I'm not bothered about covering Joy Division but doing Love Will Tear Us Apart is just LAZY.

'Atmosphere' would be so much better, and MORE DUBSTEP.

Agree. 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' is a bad choice but pretty much anything off Closer would work well. The whole album is very atmospheric and would lend itself to dubstep treatment, especially if one of the more experimental producers like Shackleton got his mitts on it.

I'm a big JD fan but I don't think there's anything wrong with covering or remixing them if it's done imaginatively. I wouldn't have thought a dubstep version of a Prince song would have worked but it did in Kode 9's hands.

Agreed. Love Will Tear Us Apart is particularly sacred.

I once tried to cover Deal Souls. It was utter, utter shit. I decided to leave Joy Division as they were after that.

Its hard to imagine how a dubstep version of any Joy Division tune would be anything but bollocks.

Never gonna improve the atmospherics of tunes like 'Candidate'.

And yes, choosing 'Love will tear' would be ridiculously pathetically lazy.
