Actually,I'd say 'The Eternal' is pretty close to dubstep.divanrod wrote:holy fuck...i'd never even think i would ever hear of the idea.
i would be excited if somehow they used day of the lords or passover - or something related
That's another great song too!Echo Wanderer wrote:Actually,I'd say 'The Eternal' is pretty close to dubstep.divanrod wrote:holy fuck...i'd never even think i would ever hear of the idea.

Oh...and I hate Joy Division covers(barring a few exceptions).Plus,'Love Will Tear Us Apart' has been covered at least 17 times.
Yeah, but Warsaw was more 70s English Punkrock,so loads of punk bands can cover them, because they keep that punk feel. But to a lot us hardcore Factory and Post Punk heads,JD covers are somewhat considered an act of sacrilege.divanrod wrote:That's another great song too!Echo Wanderer wrote:Actually,I'd say 'The Eternal' is pretty close to dubstep.divanrod wrote:holy fuck...i'd never even think i would ever hear of the idea.

Heh...well..............my old band covered No Love Lost.....only twice though so don't worry too much
I can understand that. Same with Tool covers for a metal head. I heard a dance version of Ænima once...i wept...Echo Wanderer wrote:

Chester Perry wrote:some things should not be covered and Joy Division are one of them, any remake of them in any genre is just wrong. a cheeky wee sample aye but a cover,no no and thrice no.
Is it me or are there a lot of covers now, seems a bit lazy imo.
yup.Chester Perry wrote:some things should not be covered and Joy Division are one of them, any remake of them in any genre is just wrong. a cheeky wee sample aye but a cover,no no and thrice no.

yeah I felt the same way about the Bergerac theme tune, then that pesky Shackleton got his mitts on it.Chester Perry wrote:some things should not be covered and Joy Division are one of them, any remake of them in any genre is just wrong. a cheeky wee sample aye but a cover,no no and thrice no.
Agree. 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' is a bad choice but pretty much anything off Closer would work well. The whole album is very atmospheric and would lend itself to dubstep treatment, especially if one of the more experimental producers like Shackleton got his mitts on it.ackbar wrote:Chester Perry wrote: yup.
plus.. considering all the eerie darkness they recorded, love will tear us... has got to be one of the worst choices to make a dubstep remix of
That's a GREAT version. I need more Swans in my life.Echo Wanderer wrote:Swans - Love Wil Tear Us Apart[Black Version - Jarboe on vocal]
The ONLY good cover of 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'.
Agreed. Love Will Tear Us Apart is particularly sacred.Chester Perry wrote:some things should not be covered and Joy Division are one of them, any remake of them in any genre is just wrong. a cheeky wee sample aye but a cover,no no and thrice no. .
