I have been very busy with equalizing a lot of stuff today(bass and kicks and such). But I noticed the eq eight(in ableton) isn't the easiest to work with.
Do you use an eq plugin? and what kind of eq plugin?(band or graphic or other)
Which one in your experience is the best?

My fav is ReaEQ that comes free with Reaper.

It is a parametric eq that has all the standard filter types + shelving etc etc. You can create unlimited bands, it runs as a vst and it's free!

This looks pro man! But I'm wondering because it's kinda similar to the eq eight in ableton. If you want to cut off below let's say 60 Hz. What is the easiest way because you mostly get a curve.
And if that is a good thing, which point of the curve should be on that 60 Hz?

From what I get EQ'ing is the key to keeping your kickdrums when you also have a fat bass. Unless you use side-chaining, but that didn't work for me.

If you want to cut all below 60 then use a graphic eq, I like the rea eq myself, really good

Ok I'll try it out, but you always get a curve so which point of the curve should be on 60 Hz, the begin, or the end, or somewhere in between?

it's just not that handy, a bit too small so I was looking for something better:) And I was wondering which part of the curve should be on the frequency you want cut.

Anybody tried Voxengo's Overtone EQ and what do you think? It's free and I downloaded today but not tried yet.

So I think it is good to add some "color" to your track but I suppose not so good for robust cutting (for ex. low cutting sub bass, kicks etc).
Since the only EQ-s I have are Kjaerhus Classic EQ and these ones which come with Cubase 5 I'm also looking for decent EQ. Cubase's GEQ-30 and channel EQ are also quite good but not 100% happy with them.
There is UAD's Cambridge EQ, also PSP and Voxengo's stuff. Quite expensive so have to download demos and read reviews before ordering.

I saw that eq on your making of your track, is there a windows version because I searched about and could only find it for mac

Heres a pic of all the kinda curves you can get from this beast. You can also stack X4 of them in one plug for some insane curves. Also has 2X and 4X oversampling and it 64 bit internal processing.

You win. (Your pic is bigger than mine + the eq does things that are making me wet....)

For digital EQ I like PSP Neon though - the APEQ would be great but it doesn't do MS

how much is that G14 anyways?

I like the oxford standard EQ when I used it at a studio.. Really not in anyone budget unless you're doing music professionally or have a really decent job though.

Other than that, TC Works graphic EQ is alright for me.

If cutting frequencies is what you're after, isn't eq three a pretty good one? I use eq three for lowpassing/highpassing
