i remeber reading somewhere that ruskos sets from pretty soon are gonnastart being "live" sets
anyone know how exactly this is gonna work?
i think i remember reading something about a drummer
but that might have just been shite

Just saw him on Sat with the glitch mob! So ill!. He had a bunch of samplers, and some other equipment that I couldn't really see. He was triggering and mixing songs live, but he didn't seem to have a laptop. Anyway, the real sick part was he brought out his bass and was playing it live with the tunes! It was so dope! It was a bit raw, which I really liked.

saw him do this a the bloc weekender... jury is still out on this one for me.
loads of potential in the set, i'd love to hear him doing it again in 6 months time.

yep he has a lappy, I think he was working with ableton. (u should look at that link wif the pics, hehehe)


I thought it was fun! i loved how he kept his bass with him the whole time, true multi-tasker there!

I feel roughly the same - it was rough and ready at Bloc, but MASSIVE props to him for doing it really live, and I reckon that given 6 months honing it on the road it will be pure demolition. The sheer variety in the set should put paid to any of the, hem hem, moaners who say he's a one-trick-wobble-pony, too...

rusko's live show is excellent, one of the most exciting dubstep shows i've been to. he really responds to the crowd and playing the bass live takes it to a new level. i think he had loops on his laptop and was also sampling the bass to build up bass loops. this gave it a feeling of transitioning back and forth between "organic" and sequenced sounds as he'd go back and forth between things that he'd recorded live and what sounded like the original version of tunes like jahova.

LARGE set, nuff respect. highly recommend seeing him if you have the chance

The floor was pretty crowded, and it was a bit hard for me to see. I figured he was using ableton, (that's my main DAW) but I just didn't see a comp from where I was in the club. That makes so much more sense. I was confused about exactly he was doing...

I saw the Rusko live set at Bloc. I must say it wasn't half bad and has lots of potential.

It was a heavy set but there's still a couple of negatives in my book, which is obviously personal opinion and wouldn't concern everyone, but;

a) The bass guitar sound was a lott less bassy than his produced beats, so tunes felt a little empty when they were riding on the bass guitar alone. Needs some sort of boost, but its at least partly due to his rude as fook produced beats in the first place.

b) Rusko's sets seem to have gona a little slow for me and this is just personal preference. I like the production but would enjoy a few more tunes that sounded a little faster in the dance.

Anyway, Nice one to Rusko for experimenting, innovation is great for the scene!

Rusko is now officially a Rock Star.

And although I agree he gets lots of credit for playing an instrument with other tweeking I think overall it is still pretty rough...

Personally I would have loved it his live bass playing was over loops with underlying sub bass and if there wasn't huge pauses between songs. Those seemed kind of inevitable with the setup and really dropped the flow of the set generally.

I am excited to see where he takes it all tho!

bass guitars don't go low enuff, needs more double bass!

will hopefully check this out when he's playing up here. don't really know any rusko tunes or wot his dj sets sound like, but some live bass action defo sounds like its worth checkin' out.

hes using a 5 string im pretty sure. when he played in denver the bass guitar was louder than the wobblz! it was a fun show, but i dont know if it was better than a traditional mix set. space between songs to load up another set.... fail. theres lots of potential.
