Sup all,
Im fairly new to dubstep/grime and I really want to get into making my own beats and shit. One of my buddies has slowly built up his setup and after seeing him do it, makes me really want to try my hand at it and get started on my own shit.
I've got a really good computer already (2008 Mac Pro tower)
My budget is about $1500-2000 USD for everything that I will need I hope. Im willing to spend more if it may become necessary, especially in the future, but I just want to get a real good basic setup so I can make sick beats and maybe some dubstep type shit once I figure it out.

Im not to worried about getting the best program at the moment, just want the good tools first.

I need to get a soundcard for my computer too. Im thinking about the M-Audio Audiophile 192, yea its not the best ever, but it looks like it will do the trick.

I guess I need studio monitors. Im looking into the KRK Rocket powered 8's . I want to spend about 500$ usd on speakers and I want the best damn ones I can get that have really accurate bass.

Theres no question, Im serious, I really want to get into this shit. Ive messed around with Reason and some other basic programs. In my opinion, the programs are basically all the same with their own little tricks.
I need hardware and instruments to work with. Ill just get burnt out if I just use programs and click my mouse for weeks. I just thought some people on here had some advice on what is quality equipment to get started on. Yea I know, I want to spend a grip of money, but fuck, I worked my ass off all last year and had no life and now I want to make some good investments on music gear.

u can produce good tunes just on software whats the big problem, u might realise it's not for you after a while. why don't u try complete a few tunes first. i mean i'm a begginer in producing too, im not trying to act like an expert but you need to seriousily think before u started spending 2 grand

after that statment i think you will be wasting money thinking you "need hardware and instruments" and buying them. as mentioned before try some demos out. you have so much to learn without making it more difficult for yourself on top of learning the basics.

get logic (yes it makes dubstep, hiphop, and anything else)

monitors (krks just fine), soundcard (perhaps not an maudio);
and a nice, really cheap midicontroller
like korg nano, akai, or even maudio...

aaand send the rest of the money to me....

just remember it aint ya hardware making the tunes, you could have a shit load of stuff but it aint gonna make you a better producer

yeah get logic deffo, when I get my mac its the first thing im gettin

try out some demos as said before of different vsts maybe go to a few music shops and try some hardware synths out if you want to go down the expensive route,

when you get your monitors its important to learn what they sound like so make sure to a/b a lot of stuff you do at the start if your a beginner.

read up on acoustic treatment because if your studio/bedroom/whatever aint up to scratch then its gona be hard to tell what your stuff actually sounds like. I'm not on about spending huge amount on acoustic tiles but just think what can be done to absorb the sound etc
