If i were to choose out of cubase 3 and nunedo 3... i'd choose nuendo
Nuendo is as close to cubase 4 as u will get.
It includes control room. Cubase 3 does not have control room.
Control room is handy because u can manage dif outputs to A/B and have a fader that is seperate ffrom the master fader. Meaning on your transport control when u alter the level it does not affect the level of your master channel.
Its handy when your running limiters etc... on the master chan
Nuendo is also tailored for the multimedia market/post production.. It usually (in the past) has included features not included with cubase. IE 5.1 channels. Correct me if im wrong but i think it also has a different license.
The audio engines are exactly the same. And almost all the shortcuts.
I'd buy cubase 5 if i were u.. Def worth the cash.
Its very cheap for what your getting.

Im pretty sure that Cubase didn't adopt the Nuendo rendering engine until version 4. That's the most important thing in my opinion. Nuendo 4 has added some more complex routing capability which is really cool but if your planning on purchasing one I don't see the need for a musician to spend 2 g's on a DAW when you can get what you need for a fourth the price.

Sound advice
Cubase5 is awesome and I switched from Nuendo3
I got originally purchased nuendo because it handles video but that is no longer a priority for me

Nuendo 4 kicks ass IMO. But I'd rather have Cubase 5.. soon.

it's a whole other world
I'm pretty happy with my purchase and I've probably only scraped the surface of what it can do

Cubase is v expensive, nuendo is horrifically expensive, thats the main difference

Cubase has got video editing, v3 has at least. im fairly sure cubase does 5.1 as well, but not 100% - neundo does more than5.1... like youdneed that.
i could never work out whay youd pay so much more for neuendo. it is intended as post prod as mentioned.

There is barely a difference, hence the name 'Cubendo'!

I think Nuendo was more to do with Steinbug hoping to compete on a more 'pro' level with Pro Tools and the like.
It came out about the same time they launched Houston (remember that!!!!) and I think Steiny hoped the expensive solutions were what 'pro's' bought!!!

If your a producer mainly then Cubase is what to go for imo if you like Steiny's methods.
