Producers with progression

Dubstep, like a lot of 2-step drum & bass, is a sort of template-based music in the main, with a very standardised structure in terms of intros, drops and breakdowns, and general musical features.

Toasty strikes me as one of the producers who is keen to make something that doesn't feel so cut-and-paste. I bought the Halo Beats release for 'On Something', but I'm now into 'You're Special'. It strikes me as a track where he's made a solid effort to progress things, from that main melody, to the build-up to the second drop, and everything that happens thereafter.

I've been listening to dubstep longer than it's been called that, but am open to hearing recommendations of other producers I might not be aware of who place a similar onus on progression.

Thoughts?

Yeah, these guys are very melodic aren't they?

Incidentally, it doesn't have to all be about melody variation; it could be beat progression (I'd be particularly interested in that, being a massive jungle head).

I'd add Loefah to the list. Stuff like: Root, The Goat Stare, Mud, Midnight, Candyfloss Rmx. They all do something different towards the end of the tune.
