since you mention finihsing a tune
best advice ive seen relating to this is to set a marker at the start of a tune, then a marker at 5/6minutes ish - then you know where youre tune will end. well hard to finish anything with an infinite blank canvas in front of you - this way you can see your end point, and suddenly far less space to fill.]
works for me !
good luck

Damn, thats pretty good advice, i never thought of doing that.
I'm home already, friday night in sydney!
usually if i smoke weed and try and produce I end up listening to the same percussion loop for like 2 hours twiddling with shit that doesnt really need to be tweaked.
Have fun at work - render what we've done sunday night and we'll see who wins teh l33t prize.

team up with someone to finish tunes or play what you have to get their approval which in turn should motivate you to get her done. I need to take my own advice FFS

Dont show you're missus is my tip.
Mine always disses and puts me on a right downer with comments like "I think you should just give up"

My wife is hugely supportive, she is a cellist professionally tho.

point to the door chum. my missus hates dub/electro etc with no vocals but lies, rather badly, when hearing my choons and gives the two thumbs up. bless her
