This isn't patronising advice - just stop. Quitting anything is literally an act of sheer willpower. Mind over matter.
I gave up cigarettes back in January and decided once and for all that I wasn't going to smoke any more cigarettes. It's all down to pure willpower.
Substitue the drugs for something else (Not alcohol). I found with cigarettes that the best substitute was oranges - you have to do something with your hands (ripping the peel off - as opposed to rolling a cigarette) and it takes about 3 mins to eat one (about the same time as a cigarette).
When I went out - it was simply a case of saying "I don't smoke anymore" - and eventually the usual suspects just stopped asking.
When you find yourself reaching to pick up the phone and make the call - go and do something else instead.
Tell your mates you've been having panic attacks too and you're quitting - they'll stop offering you a J, because the majority of the problem is social in most instances.
Humans are creatures of habit. The idea is to break your old routines and replace them with new ones. Once you've found things that work, positively affirm them every time you do those instead of smoking weed. You'll soon find you don't need to, it'll just become the normal thing you do instead.

Yeah it is definitely a social thing, although i do smoke a bit on my own!
The oranges thing is good advice! Was gonna substitute it with alcohol, any insight into why this is a bad idea? Don't think i could give up cigarettes - because i do enjoy it, and i don't have any motivation to stop.

yo i get em all the time, had one the other day, I cut down big time a while ago cos it got really bad... still smoke just very very small amounts, mainly for the taste and smell... you can still get as much enjoyment out of it just without the effects... bit of a shame tho

yeah it's more about the actual activity of smoking than the effects!

You're obviously unable to read. The next sentance explained what I did when I went out.

Yeah, simply for the fact you're going to abuse the fuck out of it instead of the ganj. It's a poor substitute. It comes down to your habits too...
think of all the things you do when you're stoned...
Eating, watching movies and playing video games for example - you're going to have to re-adjust all those things you do WITH weed and do them without weed.
It's not easy, but it's do-able. Like I said, mind over matter. The real strength is knowing you're walking into the lion's den with mates and passing on it, and having the ability to decline it. You can have just as much fun without it as with it. Plus its fucking hillarious when your mates do stupid shit when you're sober... worst comes to worst - just think up dumb things for them to do when they're stoned that you can watch.

It was pretty funny
I agree, it really is a mind thing. The best step to take is definitely telling your mates, that way they're less likely to smoke around you and give you temptation, and they can remind you of your goal if you give in to having a smoke.

Like, I swear 90% of the reason people find it hard to stop smoking is because everyone says how hard it is. I smoke weed daily, but every year I stop for about 6-8 weeks over my exams, and for me its literally never been anything other than a case of "im not going to smoke till after exams", followed by...not wanting to/smoking anything till after exams.
I think the dread "YOU CAN NEVER GIVE UP SMOKING" adverts are just fucking more people up who want to quit than stopping people who might start.
In fact, im about 2 weeks into my this years smoking stopping. In it together FTB?
