anyone into it?
it's probably what i'm buying the most,
haven't got any specific favourite labels, so i'm not working on buying the whole backcatalogue of any labels,
stuff like red light or jet star is allready difficult and expencive to find and those contain only like less than 10 and 30 jungle releases.
i've seen some jet star records getting sold on ebay for 250 euros (more than 150 pounds)
just let me know if you're into it, i might post some stuff onhere

I like it, just finding it hard getting in the know how about it. Managed to bag some early emotif and some reinforced bits for a £1 a pop at a second hand record store a few weeks back.

i saw potential bad boy last week and he played loads of boring modern dnb nice one.

Amazes me how slow a lot of these old tunes were - some of the older stuff when it was splitting from the old skool hardcore is at 145-155. Got a tune by Smokin Joe (I think) called Sensimilla Crisis (again, I think) that if pitched down by-8 plays fine with modern dubstep.

Think there was quite a lot of innovation in the earlier jungle, before it got obsessed with uber-production and lost the plot. Much rather hear inventive badly recorded music than polished turds.

And considering the technology available at the time I'm amazed that it sounds as good as it does. Remarc still an original badman

yeh im into it, my tastes might be considered a bit 'bate' tho, its not the easiest music to delve back into

early dilly (also as capone), remarc, and krome & time are probs my favourite producers. also souljah (lemon d)

dillinja was a ridiculous badman, i cant hack how good he was back in day

Dillinger was definitely good (still has his moments but churns out too much shite - quality control not a strong point).

Got Sky/Muthafukka and Tear Down the Whole Place from way back and they were amazing. Trying to remember if the tune was Silver Blade that was on one of the old V comps or something but remember that being pretty intense (and very expensive now if a copy turns up).

I still like Incredible by General Levy - only good tune I heard at a gig the other week when they put it on the system between bands. Better response to that tune than the bands

Jungle/drum and bass died when tech step became the only style rinsed at raves. I'm not dissing tech step in the slightest, but the scene became one dinentional because of the prevalance of it. For a few years 94/97 drum and bass was the most inventive music to imerge from the dance movement. You'd be hard pushed to better some of the tracks that came out of that period. It did seem to stop in it's tracks though. I think it reached a peak of creative prowess and the producers didn't know where to take it, or for that matter better it. They just kind of regressed in to bland and boring dance floor riddims. I blame Photek. I've had a theory for years that when he was dropping his tracks it made most other producers realize he couldn't be bettered. They just stopped trying. Kind of heart breaking when you hear whats being called drum and bass nowadays.

i mix jungle & oldskool, i got loads of stuff. stuff on booby trap, urban gurilla, FX, production house, jungle mania & quaryside are all good. top tunes:

all anthems but all good tunes.

really love old ragga/hardstep tunes. especially those on Kemet, and who can forget Greensleeves? hell, in the right circumstances, Congo Natty rekkids can rock the dancefloor bodies.

of the relatively small amount im familiar with ive gotta say remarc epitemises the qualities in jungle i love and that modern dnb lacks - inventive shifting drum patterns, fat bass lines and perhaps most importantly a rushy sense of fun.

Some of the early Omni Trio stuff around the Deepest Cut - Renegade Snares, etc still sounds amazing today. Personal favourite would be Nu Birth of Cool which manages the difficult task of being uplifting yet not cheesy.

D'Cruze - Watch Out - real dark jungle, ominous church bells etc.

And Dred Bass - What the Time you Have there Dread - killer

Does anyone else remember that era way back when Pete Tong declared that jungle "wasn't music" and then changed his mind when the Goldie album came out. No U-Turn indeed.

everyone always bigs up remarc, i dont think hes that great, his best tune was released in 93, called hear me on his label dollar. much better jungle artists out there: omni trio, nookie, 4hero, dillinjs, photek (under his aliases) there the ones i can think of off the top of my head.
