dubstep in china

...not yet i quess but i'm doing a tour there with my ghetto tech project starting from oct 8- oct 21 and i had a chance to book 3 dj gig's for me there too so hopefully people there will catch the "dubstep fever".

When I was there in June there was some dubstep happening. There is a pretty big breakcore and dancehall community. I see you are playing at Yugong Yishan... it is a great spot... very weird.
Also, check out the Guanyin night on Tuesdays at Two Kolegas bar... ambient experimental stuff, but sort of at the heart of the chinese electronic scene (in Beijing).
You are hitting some great cities, for sure. Have a great time. I think you will be suprised at how open and up for it the scene is... much more vibrant than what I seeing in the US.

I worked out there with chinese designers
i been to hong kong, shanghi, taizoh, but the best place was haian island that was sick!
They love western music but loads of cheese stuff

In the year 2006, not many people would even blink if you mentioned any of these... I went to the school in Beijing where the whole 1989 democracy movement was started (Peking U) and my teachers talked about these things openly and even showed us films on it. Things have changed alot, yet the perceptions stay the same.
Now, Falun Gong might get ya into some water, though.

exactly. western attitudes on china still aren't up to date despite the news' meme. last time i was out there was 2002 and i've wrote my thesis on (in short) china and captialism. like everything in china it's a question of scale. dubstep could and probably will kill it out there. please report back on how this goes mate!
