haha, so this is well pointless but i thought it was kinda weird...

i cleaned my decks today, cause they were well grimy and shit (they live in the living room of a shared house with 7 people, it gets quite messy in there...)

i was looking at the sticker on the side, where the dust cover mounts are, and the sticker says "driect drive turntabel system" haha...

just wondered if anyone else's sticker said the same?

sorry this is kind of a shit thread, delete it if you want... cheers

Did you buy these from a guy on a Thai beach or your local dyslexic?

i hope they arent fake haha :o!
surely counterfeit turntables isnt a very lucrative business though...

maybe they were originally from HTFR? :o

seems pretty suspicious if u ask me. where did the package come from when the decks arrived?

gotta admit ive never heard of fake 1210s, but then i'd never heard of fake shure mics either...

...till i bought one

If thatäs the case, you shouldn't worry about it.

Dude sorry to tell you this but there are fake turntables from Asia that have spelling mistakes.

the point where this went from 'lol spelling mistakes' in your head to 'oh shit maybe theyre fakes' must have been a fucking bummer.

i really hate it when shit like that happens.

yo, actually, i think u are okay: i just checked and mine say the same thing.

or maybe mine r fake too?

nah, not likely. got them from turnkey.

or is that why they went out of business?

no, seriously, Ive had them about 10 years, and never had any problems with them at all.

bare in mind that even if there are fake 1210s from asia (likely), even the real ones come from asia too (japan), so a spelling mistake on a sticker aint impossible. i wonder how good the spelling of japanese stickers would be if technics were manufactured in the west midlands.

Checked mine, it is spelled correctly. I am sure it is entirely possible that Technics themselves made the mistake. I really don't think they are faking the Techs. If it was a fake you would probably be able to tell right away.

hmmm, really good to hear someone else has the same mistakes on the label!
id be quite surprised if they were fake, nothing else about them suggests that they are, they dont feel cheaply made or anything!
i was thinking its possibly something to do with the fact they are made in japan... maybe a certain batch number or something?

ill try and get a picture up later today!

cheers for all your responses guys, especially battle gong for providing me with peace of mind haha!

If they play exactly like other technics they will be genuine becuase the build quality is what makes technics unique. Genuine techs with a spelling mistake might actually be worth more, some people collect weird stuff like that

Have asked 6 people to check there's and they have all said there's are spelt correct and any spelling mistakes could mean they are not real Technics. :o

A quick search on google suggests the same thing.

yeah this is what im thinking, if they were fake it would be noticiable..?
if they were bad enogu hcopies for the label to be misspelled, surely the quality of the actual turntable would be pretty shoddy too?

hmm, i really want to find out for sure now, just for peace of mind...

not necessarily. took me ages to work out if the shure mic i got is fake or not. in the end it WAS very obvious (an extra sticker inside about voiding warranty if opened was the give away), but it had nothing to do with quality of build; the mic is pretty much identical to look at (and doesnt even sound all that bad tbh. was still well worth the 20quid i paid new).

sumthing inportant 2 consider when talking about "fakes" is that it aint like back in the day when a fake was a badly built piece of shit from taiwan or somewhere, while the original was made in germany. now pretty much everything is made in the same factories in china anyway, so a "fake" might actually have been made by the same workers, in the same factory, on the same machines, but off the record and then shipped out the back door. apparently this is a really big, big problem for fashion brands, cos the 10 quid prada fakes can be identical 2 the 500 quid originals: the factory just runs off a few hundred thousand more units when the client aint watching.

anyway, if i'd just bough my 1210s off ebay then i'd probably b pretty worried too by now, but as i said, i had em years, played out on them plenty without any problems, and got em from what was probably the most reputable store in the UK. i think its just a dodgy sticker on the japanese build 1210s.

and as sum1 pointed out already: doesnt matter 2me even if they are fake cos they work. and i aint selling them, ever, so no problem...

out of interest tho: any1 with "real" technics can let us know if there is ANY sticker on the back or not? the sticker in question is black, and says made in japan by matsushita electrical co or something like that. do the correctly spelt stickers say made in japan, or somwhere else?

EDIT: googling "fake technics 1210s" brings up this thread as top result, followed by 4 pages of results NOT about fake 1210s, and then i gave up looking. so what did u find that i missed?

the thing is, even though mine were from ebay, they ended up being from someone who although i didnt know, seemed pretty genuine, let me collect in person and had other related gear for sale on ebay too (a disco dj style cd unit)

Microphones would be a lot easier to fake then a turntable I would think. I mean if they can fake a technics and have you believing it for a while I am thinking you could make some serious money going legit.
