i'm a breaks dj/producer over the last year or so i've heard some really sick dubstep at various partys/festivals but i've also heard some really monotonus gash aswell.
can you recommend what you consider to be seminal tracks or mixes that i should listen to ?

Would probably be healthy to remember that dubstepforum post count doesn't always equate to knowledge/enjoyment of the different forms and styles of dubstep. Similarly there's no inverse ratio between Join Date and love of chase and status.
These are banging...

Chase & Status - Saxon
Crissy Criss - Fackin ell'
Rusko - Woo Boost
Rusko - Mr Chips
Kid Cudi vs Crookers - Day 'n' Night (Rusko's Big Trombone remix)

Tsch, Newbies.
I'd listen to Youngsta on Rinse.fm, every thursday, 9-11pm.
Don't listen to chase&status, check out Mala, Loefah, and definitely check out Coki

You're better off picking up a mix CD or compilation album than aiming to get a handle on the scene from one artist or label. The Dubstep Allstars series is an excellent introduction to the scene. They're compiled and mixed by some of the most respected DJs in dubstep.
If you'd prefer to listen to tracks unmixed, there are some good compilations around. I really rate 'Steppas Delight' (on Soul Jazz) which has a broad range of dubstep styles on it from Benga to Shackleton.
