So i'm looking to buy a new softsampler and i'm leaning towards kontakt since i found cheap deals for komplete 5 on ebay($450)...but alchemy has def caught my eye, the synthesis along with the remix pads in it look like a dream come true and i have faith in camel more then i do NI even though all reviews point toward NI...... anyone use this?????
I have used both extensively, and i can say that for sampling, Kontakt is the mutts! plus the Komplete package is amazing value. top of the range stuff.
I used alchemy a bit, but found the sounds to be really 'digital' and stale. hmm... It has a usefull granular synth, but then the komplete package you get reaktor that has no bounds!!!
im with this guy, so true

i think both are reall ygreat piece of software , kontankt for sampling bur definetely yhe alchemy hi q filter sound way better than the alchemy one IMO.
alchemy is good also for sound morphing and good quality emulation of virtual analog oscillator
both have theyr own use .

alchemy is by far my favorite virtual synth. Its not really a sampler though, it can just use samples as an oscillator starting point. you can load your own samples into it, but its not really meant to give really realistic emulations. Its also a real "programmers" synth. The presets on it are pretty bad, and dont really show what the instrument is capable of. With so many modulation sources and random events, it can create very organic performances of blatantly electronic sounds. sounds that change and evolve everytime a note is triggered. amazing for sound design. I mean, what other synth lets you paint sound (as well as importing images) in a spectra scope and use it as one of four oscillators. it can sound incredibly digital as well as dirty and analog. but if you are interested more in a traditional sampler, kontakt is the shit.

If you buy Komplete you also get Absynth. I haven't really dived to deep into Absynth myself. It's an incredibly deep synth. But I know you can drag samples into it the oscillators as well and use those as your wavetables. It also, if I'm not mistaken, allows you to perform granular synthesis....which is 1 of the big things I've heard about Alchemy. To each his own. Alchemy looks sweet....but if you own Komplete you've got pretty much everything in Massive, Reaktor, Kontakt, Absynth, and FM8.

They are completely different. If you want an awesome sampler get Kontakt...however I love alchemy...personally not a huge fan of absynth...too many panels and it sounds thin to me. Alchemy is much more straight forward and sounds better by far Imo
Facepalm...huge thread necro...

They're really two different beasts. While Kontakt can do most of what Alchemy can, Alchemy is simply not capable of replicating deep multisampled libraries. Alchemy can also be way more user friendly if you don't plan on going as deep. While they're both able to shred samples to pieces, the way they do it is very different.

I'd keep my money till around Christmas time, NI usually sell their Komplete for usually around 500.
Then you're actually set for life in terms of set up.
I know its long to wait but...
