i feel like this should be really easy to do, say i downloaded a bunch of drum sounds and i wanted to use them to make beats(what else would you want them for?) in a piano roll type deal, same with a bass sound, how would you go about making a kit or software program in a daw. im using logic8

You can load them into Logics sampler (ESX24) and assign each individual hit to a key, or the more easy option, load them into Ultrabeat. Then you can save the kit so you can bring it up at any time.

edit: Hope this helps mate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBVq2GwIQfI :W:

just tried it worked great. another thing i was hoping to figure out is if i could add a bass or some instrument into that sampler or something else and have it play different tones based on where it is on the piano roll, just like the instrumentals already on there.

i can think of ways i could accomplish this by using audacity and changing the pitch then upload each tone into the sampler but that sounds like a huge hassle i was hoping for an easier way to do it. :?

If you open up EXS25 and click the edit button on the top right of the sampler you will get up a new window where you can drag and drop samples, [the samples will change pitch as you go up and down the keys] and you can put basses in there, but the samples will stretch and shorten as you go up and down the keys (which works great with stabs and vocal shots), but not so much if you want a consistent bassline.

or put the sample on key 25 in ultrabeat then you can play it on the other octaves on ya keyboard
